Please note that most dampers are in black color.
Most dampers in the market look alike as 90+ % are in black...and bonnet damper all looks like...well...DAMPERS !
However, try fitting a damper set that's not designed specifically for your vehicle, then you will suffer bodywork damages like fenders, bonnet, uneven gaps etc due to poor design and workmanship.
Please also take note that each and every damper for each make of car have different pressure to cope with different weight of the bonnet.
Cheers !

Cool Mine....

My home-made version still work fine.

The strut is from the rear hatch glass on a Bronco!

They hold your hood open so you don't have to use the old school prop. Same as on the trunk lid of an eight. It allows you to keep it open with no prop, you don't have to worry about bumping it and getting slammed in the head, when your working under the hood (perhaps adding oil), and it looks a little nicer when you open the hood to show someone what a rotary engine looks like.

i personally like the prop rod, as it allows me to close the hood without pushing down on it and getting my grubby finger prints all over my hood, which would be a requirement with the gas struts.

Thanks for the explanation!

I think I'm totally ok with the prop rod.

I agree, it is a problem with the dampers. We need some kind of hybrid. WE COULD BE MILLIONAIRES OVERNIGHT! Anyone who develops my idea owes me 50% of the profits.

I have struts on my hood and you can drop the hood about six inches up and it closes nice.

In the DIY for hood struts

The whole DIY
