Introduction & Seat Belt Issue
Hey all! I'm finally going to introduce myself. I got my RX-8 back at the end of August. It's the 06 Shinka (I liked the color). It's got the Mazda Appearance/Body kit, rear spoiler, rotary accents, & fender strakes. With the info/advice here I've added footwell lamps (wired to the parking lights), radio **** (Petit) and clear corners w/Stealth bulbs. I received my RB Oil/AC screens yesterday (not installed yet,I know I'm getting on it) and am currently 2nd on the list for the next run of RP short shifters.
Thanks for all the great information in here. I finally have something that may be of interest to post, so here goes...
My daughter is in a car seat for a couple more months. Because I won't be driving the car much over the Winter, I never planned to mount a car seat in the RX-8. Well, of course, I had a need to. But the rear seat belts didn't have the locking mechanism. Meaning you pull the seat belt all the way out and it ratchets back and won't extend any further until it's fully recoiled. So I could put the car seat in, but it wouldn't hold in place. Warranty covered it, but it made me think if anyone hasn't had the need to use their seat belts for that purpose, they may want to check to make sure they have the right type of seatbelts installed. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident, but on an assembly line, usually more than one car is effected by these things. It was just the rear two belts (front passenger was correct w/locking mechanism/Driver's seat shouldn't have a locking mechanism).
Check yours out!!
Ben
