reach down by your left knee, under the dash slightly. There's a pushbutton.

or lean over the center console, and with your right hand open the glove box, pull out manual, and look there.

If you are refering to the one inside the trunk,,,,,
It is on the back vertical panel to the right a little, if you climb in you can give it a try.
So don't worry about getting locked in your trunk. You can always get out.

I'm confused as to how someone can't find the trunk release. If they mean the one inside the car it is coded with a picture of a car with the trunk open. Otherwise, I don't really know why you'd care where the one from inside the trunk was unless you planned on hanging out in the trunk.

When you have 5 people in the family and there are only four seats--where are you going to stick the odd man out?

Probably depends on how tall you are. I know where the button is (next to the hood popper) but I am unable to just reach down and find it by feel. Usually have to bend down and look.

I think shorter people can just glance up and see the pictogram.

Wow....such rude responses. You guys should pull out the manual and you will that there is no reference to it. And no, I don't mean getting stuck in the truck. Obviously I meant popping open the trunk from the inside, getting out of the car, walking around to the back so that the trunk is unlocked instead of having the key with you.

If you feel the button you will find it has bumps on it ( like for the blind in elevators ). Hope that helps.

It's on Page 3-35 of the '06 owner's manual. There's an entry in the table of contents for it.

But, as I said in my other post, I find the thing to be really hard to find even knowing where it is.

The remote button on the key works from inside the car. But odds are 50/50 whether the key is inserted so that the button is on top.

You could also text message on your phone if you are stuck in there or use the web on your phone to get to this site.

Hey, the title of your post was "Interior Trunk Release" . . . There is a release in the interior of the trunk.

Thanks to all that provided the answer. You really can't see the button unless you know it's there or you're outside down on your knees (no comment!).

I do have to agree that is in a poor location. Since it is electronic, they did not stick it near the mechanical fuel door release.

All Mazdas now have trunk door releases inside the trunks, as my little daughter discovered as I was doing the paperwork for mine. Two salesmen were walking by a showroom car when the trunk suddenly popped open and a giggling child crawled out. They got a laugh out of it.

BTW, if the child is thin enough, they can crawl into the trunk through that center space...

The OP was referring to the dashboard trunk release. Probably should have said "Car interior trunk release?"

But now the OP knows where all of them are on the car.

I love the lights throughout the car - are there any in the hood - or are those after market add-ons?
