I'm a big proponent of leather. Yes, it makes for sweaty back situations during summer in SoCal. But, thats just the price you paid for the awesomeness! I got reverse dark red/black leather in my GG. I like the dark red, almost burgundy color, its....distinguished

I remember seeing sheepskin seatcovers at Sam's Club last year that had the sides open to allow for seat-mounted air bags, so they are available. If anyone want to go that route then just make sure you get that type. I like the idea of the solar-powered air vent for the car, I just think it should be built-in by the manufacturers. I don't like the idea of having the window cracked open to get that aftermarket device in, even if it is covered by a plastic strip.

I had the same debate. I ended up getting the dealership to take out black cloth and put in a two tone leather. It was dark gray/ black. The dark gray being in the center and perforated. Breathes nice, very comfortable, and never been happier in a driver's seat.

I have a black 8 with sand leather. I don't really like the sand colour (might get used to it). Is it possible to switch to black leather? How expensive (or idiotic) might that be?

heyall ,
I came across the issue on my 2nd rx8, of not liking the leather options provided by Mazda. So I ended up getting black leather pack, and then stripping it and getting custom leather interior of a darker black and blue combination.
I actually started a thread in the Interior, audio and electronics section here named:
"ZOOMBY'S NEW STORMY BLUE RX8'S CUSTOM INTERIOR (piks inside)" : https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/zoombys-new-stormy-blue-rx8s-custom-interior-piks-inside-138767/
Check it out if you get a chance, as theres quite a few piks on there... I spent a lil time and money on this trying to get it, exactly how i wanted it .... And in the end of the day, im very happy with the result + time and effort.
Cheers,

I think red interior goes best with sunlight silver
red/black with Silver exterior...
that ROCKS...of course since I own it in a 2007 model I guess that sort of plays into the vote factor

I intially liked the black/chaparral from pics. But when I saw it in person, I didn't like it. Same with the red/black, it was too much and didnt look as classy as the solid colors.
But you could change your leather- go to www.classicsofttrim.com. It wont be the same Mazda leather, but it's excellent quality. When my leather gets old, I think Im gonna switch to sand.

When I bought my '05 they didn't have the leather combination I wanted, so I was walking out on the deal. But they came back and said they could do whatever I wanted with it. I ended up getting two toned charcoal and black (charcoal where the red is on the red/black) and the charcoal is perforated. Helps alleviate sweaty back syndrome down here in so cal. I really like the color combination and everything about it.
