Unhappy Im picking up my new 04 rx8 tomorrow from the dealer as they are putting on new tires

As i told them the deal sint complete till thats done even though i allready sealed the deal on paper hehe,,, anyway this car is fully loaded and even has the little paddle shifters on the wheel hehe
Anyway after reading all day today on several post here im kinda getting worried as i travel alot, usually around 25k a year, so is this car not to be considered reliable to be driven that way?
I mean i see people here saying that these cars just up and die and have to go in for repair, man i dont wanna be 700 miles away from home and have this happen to me 1 2 3 or 4 times a year.

This car has only 19k miles on it so i hope its not already half past its life is it?

Get all the TSB's done on it. Not to scare you but some of the 04 autos have "up and died." That wasnt a good year for them. With 19k on it it seems like it hasnt been driven often. Just take care of it and drive it like you stole and it will be good.

You should be fine if your not in a hot weather zone like TX or AZ.

Get the TSBs done. The rotory loves the freeway.

Several people now have over 100k

Welcome to the club.

Yea it was owned by a lady in her late 40,s and its what looks to be mint shape and looks identical to the one in your picture and same color.
I went online to that carfacts site and typed in its vin, it said it has 16 reports on it but they wanted $24.95 for the detailed report on these 16 reports.
so i decided i would get the dealer to do and pay for this hehe.

So you say drive it hard huh?
REally?
You mean thats actually better for it?

Yes. The rotary engine is infamous for carbon build up. It's much different then a piston engine. Drive it hard to clean out the carbon and the rotor seals will thank you. Dont have to do it everyday but a common slogan on here is a redline a day keeps the tech away. I have a 05 with 22k on it. I drive the **** out of it. I take damn good care of it too. The car loves it and no problems to date. Good luck with the car. You found a new home

Please read your manual and ask questions here on things you don't understand. To many people buy a Rotary car and are not aware that the engine is oil injected. This means you will have to add oil to the engine every so often.

i'm always curious when someone signs the paperwork and seals the deal only to come on here and ask if it was a good idea since they heard it might not be reliable. really? you wait until after that even though you've heard this? why not research first and get all of those questions out of the way before you put your herbie hancock on the dotted line?

Probably too late, but why not ask the dealer to pull the carfax report for you before you sign? And make sure you see him do it and watch it come through! Have them find you a manual if there isn't one. If all else fails, go to www.mazdausa.com, sign up for free in the owners section and then you can download one for free.

Oh yeah...............and please read it!

What kind of tires did they give you? Size and model number?

AT ... is not my cup of tea

if it has been driven by a lady, the first thing u want to do after u got the car out of the door is to drive the **** out of it !!!! Change it to Manual Shift mode and Floor the gas pedal as much as you can on the 2nd gear.

Not sure if a Ford dealership can flash Mazda's stuff but if they sell Mazda as well then Yeah I guess. if not just go visit your local Mazda dealer and tell them *you have tons of power loss issue* and give them the printed copy of the MSP16 so they can clean ur engine and update the computer to the newest version.

Yes as the other member here posted ive picked up the car as noted in another thread, oh yea as far as it was owned by a older lady i did run it hard hehe as i noted in the other thread i took & punched it and ran it to 118 mph very quickly and also i did pull to the side and switched to manual shift to try the paddle shifters and i took it to the 7k redline a few times,, its a little sluow on pickup till 4k and then here comes the zoom zoom hehe , its like a invisibale little turbo wakes uo at that rpm of 4k or somethin hehe, and your correct as they do NOT have the sw to update it to msp16 so i will have to take it to the mazda dealer in charlotte nc back home which is actually 3 miles down the road on the road i live on to have this done.
I will be taking that 398 mile one way trip back home today fron here at my parents home in tn.
I cant wait as i said i will be enjoying every second of the drive.
