if u had 800 dollars to spend what would u buy for the rx8
Very nice, and a little mean too.
Take 90 dollars of that, if nothing else, and invest in the racing beat stainless steel radiator protectors. Well worth saving you the expense of replaceing a radiator from stones or other flying objects from the road.
So you have $800 just burning a hole in your pocket, and you've come to a public forum to ask how it should be spent... on your car. Instead of listening to what other people would buy, why don't you figure out what you want out of the car? To some, suspension is the king upgrade... to others, they need to have an intake or exhaust. Nothing is really going to make this car significantly faster, so go with what makes you happy!
Good luck.
Never fear, Jedi is here...
First off, I have some questions for you.
IF you're looking for appearance mods:
- appearance pkg can probably be purchased for $800
- If you have the appearance pkg, how about a Mazdaspeed Wing?
- Clear Corners ($75 or so)
IF you're leaning more towards "performance" mods:
- Axial Flow Short Shifter. I regret not buying immediately after getting my car. If you like the feel of your shifter now, you'll LOVE the AFE SS
- Exhaust. You won't get a whole lot of horsepower from it, but the car will finally sound the way it SHOULD HAVE when you bought it.

- A/T or M/T
- Do you have an appearance pkg or spoiler right now?

Agree with LionZoo, Razz1 and Jethrtull
Go to Vegas, get a G/F for the holidays and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Remember not to soil the leather seats, not easy to clean. Read other post " Sex in RX-8"

goto vegas.. bet it all on 8 (see how lucky your car really is). pays 32:1. have enough for a FI, nice exhaust, and some exterior mods (like clear corners, accents, etc).
could do quite a bit with 25.6k

In Canada, you'd be hard pressed to get both springs + exhaust for $800 (my greddy was $800 alone). If you could only get ONE, I'd say springs for the most dramatic appearance + performance mod. Exhaust would be a close second. Those two mods alone would drastically improve your stock ride.
Don't forget the inexpensive mods like clear corners and window tint.
And remember not to sweat it ... get what you can now and in 6 months maybe you can do the next one and then the next. Gradual progression if money is tight.

Noob Question:
What is the reason behind getting coilovers? Christmas is around the corner and my dad said he'd help me buy a few things for the car this time around and I was wondering what to get, and I see a lot of people suggesting the coilovers.
Is it to give the 8 a lower look at provide better shock absorbtion or something? Or will it just help the car do better overall in the twisties.

Only a full set-up is worth it saves you from just getting springs and your shocks going out slowly Full set-ups have a shortened shock with a adjustable coil only time i ever adjust is when going to the track _ _ _ _ _ GEt lOW_ _ _ _ NOt faster but downforce helps
