I will wait
Thanks to what I have read in this forum, I wiil wait for the 2005 model if I buy an RX8. It seems that Mazda is still dealing with some unexpected problems with the car, as it is to be expected when a new model comes out. One thing that is dissapointing is that even Mazda itself offers a "buy back" program. What it comes down to it, the car is not fully tested until the consumer tests it.

you also have to consider that people are more likely to post if they have a problem with their car, than those that it is working fine. This skews the numbers a bit, but it is the nature of things.

So you will be missing out on a year of fun. Your loss...... I will put up with the problems for the fun. Have you driven one yet ? That was it for me, couldn't wait after my test drive.

Crazzyfuzzy is right. Any forum like this tends to generate a lot of questions about problems. The old adige people tell 20 people about a bad experience and 2 about a good is worth noting..

i havent had any problems with my car and love it to death, but if you dont feel comfortable with the possibility that you may have problems, then wait for the next model to come out

No problems here either at 2k miles, and what an awesome ride it is. :D

Also the buy back was not about the car, it was a marketing goof up... the buy back was a solution to false advertising claims, and is common practice. If you sell a product under a false advertisment, you are obligated to reverse the transaction. In this case, Mazda did not have the proper numbers published, so anyone who bought the car under those numbers, had the option to get out of the "bad deal". Mazda was smart though, and offered the $500 and free maintenance as an incentive to keep people driving the car, and cut their losses. I really don't feel it hurt Mazda all that much in the long run.

I will definetely wait. I love the car and when I buy it, maybe a '05 or '06, the rx8 will have other options or maybe a more powerfull engine. It always happens that the 2nd or 3rd model are better and then everybody will be trading their '04s.
