It's great that they have actually put time and effort into their cars, but we all know that off the line our cars aren't the greatest. But who cares, we'll DESTROY them on the highway

You still can't deny that Dodge has marketed the STR-4 to a younger crowd (just go to the Dodge website, it's frickin' obvious). And they know that it's cheap, easily moddable, and has tons of power. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to assume that kids will use it for street racing. Just look at the insurance rates for these cars.

Tobacco Lawsuits are a scam - they don't benefit anyone but the attorneys who bring them. Tobacco use is a choice. People should make informed decisions about their behaviour, and suffer the benefits or rewards of that conduct.
Tobacco Industry arguments in a thread about responsible use of a car? Apples and oranges anyway

Oh yeah, this is my favorite quote:
An incredible optional Kicker/Livin' Loud system with 6-disc CD changer, 178-watt output and nine speakers at seven locations, including a 10-inch woofer with a 75-watt sub-amplifier, that blasts the tunes at a volume your parents warned you about

Price?
I just went through the Neons (oops....SRT-4's) pricing configurator. Selecting the base SRT-4 with only one option -- the floor mats that come standard with the '8 -- I got a retail (sticker) price of $28,558.30. My 2005 RX-8 stickered at $27,135. I thought the Neons (oops....SRT-4's) were supposed to be an inexpensive rocket-mobile? For a sticker price that's $1423 more than the RX-8, I'm not having to think too terribly hard about this. And yes, that's only the sticker price on the Neon (ooops, SRT-4) which can obviously be negotiated, but the same is (and was) true on my '8.

They're also talking about the much slower older Mustangs, so maybe it's not them that are the idiots...
RX-8 = Smoked (especially on the highway)
Himitsu, I see what you're getting at but your analogy is silly. You drive a mazda, not a Ferrari not even a Lexus or an Acura, a Mazda. We're talking about a 10k price difference vs. a 580k price difference.

Oooh lookie...

Looks like this Impreza knockoff will be the Camaro of the 21st century, fast, cheap, young stupid drivers, poor safety. Lets see if it can break the Camaros record of having the highest death rate of any car sold
Quote:
The institute was most critical of the Neon, saying the car performed so poorly that the driver likely wouldn't have survived the crash.

You know, it kinda sucks that all of you guys are just talking crap against the srt-4. I used to have one a had a 2003 model, and thing was fast as hell. Compared to the RX-8 i belive the neono will smoke a rx-8 The neons top speed is even faster than the rx-8's. The only defect on that neon is the rubbermaid interior, the outside of it looks innocent, but agressive. if i could i would defenitly go back and buy a srt-4 qgain. I thought the rx-8 would be a lot faster but its not.

You are one of those guys who values a car based on it's straight-line acceleration I take it. You are trying to legitimize a car because it does one or two things well.
Top speed is faster? How do you know? Did you race an RX8 when you had your Neon, maxed out in top gear?
If you want your rx8 to feel fast, drive it on a nice curvy, sweeping road. You'll never be a good driver until you can be in situations where 50mph is hauling ***.

There are too many people who simply cannot understand how a car with 'less' power could be MORE fun than a car with 'more' power. That concept is beyond them.

It takes no skill and only 1/8 the *****, no 1/50. Try me at 45 degrees 60 miles an hour (if the exit is wide enough, intersection is a good example) try not to understeer with that FF piece of crap! Im gonna go post that Acura crash! Besides the RX-8 isn't for racing in a straight goddam line! none of the RX's are! An FB probably handles better than a stupid neon!!!
Never Say Never...Line up a stock RX8 vs a Mini Cooper S and you might be surprised.
