The srt is quick- no question- so is my bike, but these are really two different machines, and besides the SRT has got ugly-it hasn't even used yet!!

 

Personally, I bought the 8 because it's the best balanced car I found. It settles down nicely (less low end means a better ride when you're not ragging on it), it'll go real well when you wind it up, and it handles well. The SRT-4 costs far less and is based on a popular rental car. Sure it's a hell of a lot better than said rental car, but I really don't understand what everyone's so excited about. For the money, I'd much rather take a base WRX for a few grand more or a Miata (mmm...RWD).

All I can say is that at the end of the day, we have an '8, and they have one of the most pitiful excuses in existence for a car: a Neon. I was given a (non-SRT) Neon as a rental a few months back while traveling on business, and all I can say is I'm quite grateful that I don't have to drive one every day.

Reminds me of the Cosworth Vega. Magnificent engine, but at the end of the day, it was still a Vega. 'Nuff said.

All I can say is the people that think the SRT-4 is just a neon are stupid. Just like the people that think EVO's are Lancers and the STI an Imprezza and a Z06 a C6 and a GTR a Skyline and a 911 GT2 a Carrera. Get over it already.

 

What about the people who think an RX-8 is just an RX-7? :p

EVERY (new) Z06 is a C6. NOT EVERY C6 is a Z06.

Every SRT-4 IS a Neon. NOT EVERY Neon is an SRT4.

 

1.) A stock SRT-4 will beat a Z in just about any acceleration so I don't see what's hard to believe.

2.) I really don't see much bashing or the RX-8 there, so I'm not quite sure why some of you are getting your panties up in a bunch. If anything it's some Subaru bashing and I really could care less... I see far more imature bashing of the SRT-4 here than I do of the RX-8 over there.

3.) As much as Cas seems to want to defend the RX-8 with his silly magazine racing over there an SRT-4 will beat an RX-8 quite handily whether it be manual or auto. Even some of the boosted RX-8s now will have a hard time with the SRT-4 from a roll on the highway. That's what the thread was about, racing in a straight line, so why have a problem with what they are saying if you guys are all about the twisties...

4.) Once again, beating a dead horse... The SRT-4 is a pretty good handler and even though the RX-8 handles better it's going to have a hard time keeping up with one on all but the tightest twistiest of tracks.

there's a huge difference between the srt4 and the neon. the srt4 is proven to be FASTER than an 8 in a straight line. denying that is just stupid. and the difference between an srt4 and a normal neon is as big as an impreza to an sti.

what's the big deal anyways? the 8 looks better, is built better, and handles better. that's what it has over the srt4. the srt4 is cheaper and faster in a straight line and probably gets better gas mileage.
