mind u I dont hate all American cars, there were quite a few that really impressed me.

but more than 90% of the rest were garbage.

Good choice, I'd of gotten a Camaro in replacement of the 8 myself. In my experience, I've always had solid engines from Chevy and love the power the new Camaro V8 puts out.

Enjoy the new ride!

nyqcps,
I'm not a fan of those heavy handling Camaros or Mustangs either, but the new Camaro has a real good look.

Why rain on others parade? Did they run outta burgers in Jersey?

imo the new camaro looks big and tanky to me. Strange grill and headlights too. The dodge challenger hits the reto styling mark of the 60's better. Since I own an 8 I like the rx8 much more than both.

I love the new Camaro. The car looks EXCELLENT (to me). However for me the car doesn't have the handling so it would have to make up for it with raw power. QED: I would love a camaro, but only the V8.

I need to win at either the track or the strip. The V6 camaro (to me) would do neither.

But again, the car looks great! Hope you enjoy it and hope it gives you the reliability you seek.

Have u driven one of the new ones? I don't really understand why everyone is caught up on the v6 or v8. This motha is fast in a v6!! I couldn't see spending much more $$ for the v8. However I don't buy a car to race it anyways. To me the amount of features I got on the 2lt with rs package was plenty. I use to defend my 8 to everyone too but it got to a point where all my friends knew how often I'd have to take it in for this that or the other. The stalling issues were pretty much the last straw especially cuz the dealer seemed clueless on what is causing it but said I passed the compression test. I know everyone buys a certain car for different reasons and I never thought I'd buy a chevy but I have been very impressed with this new camaro. I like the mix of retro and modern and I think this car has both. Plus 20 inch pirelli tires. A kick a$$ soundsystem standard and the power to get moving!!

IMO the new Camaro is alot of car for the money but, Gm is known to produce sport muscle cars of lesser sort of quality and reliability. Maybe the new camaros are better but that's what they been saying since 1985 with no truth. I am sceptical. If I buy a new car it has to be reliable and last 10 years. My 04 rx8 is almost 7 years old and the most reliable new car I've owned. I've had no issues with it. I might buy a Camaro if I traded every 5 years. Otherwise give me the 8. I have a feeling the camaro is only a 3-5 year car before it falls apart. They will also be a dime a dozen by then.

I wish the new American pony cars were built to 7/8 scale. They are just too big and bulky for my tastes. Technically, ~30 mpg highway from a 300 hp motor in a car that size is quite an achievement! Enjoy it now, all the fun goes away when the new fuel economy requirements kick in.

why would you get the v6 unless you have plans for a tt or sth! the v8 is where the power is at and its not that big a price difference epecially seeing you got the rs package!!!

Cause the SS is expensive lol. They won't budge on value some went up last year USED more than msrp. V6 with 300hp feels like a v8. This is more than lot of old Camaro v8's in carb / emissions era. To get into SS your looking at 5-10 grand more more extra right now.

The size of those cars is the big turn off for me too. I don't know if it's just the sheer size that makes me not like the looks or what.

Something the size of the 8 is perfect for me for a sports car. Only problem is what else is their in that (affordable) category besides the Z? Nothing.

I feel there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. As MPG standards get tighter they wont have much choice but to make these cars lighter and a bit smaller.

That's what Corvette is for. I have one parked next to the RX8 right now

1/4 13.5 .. light.. small. Camaro is a hog it's way heavy. But they are very well built.

It handles fine to me! I have had NOTHING but good experiences with this car so far. Its FAST. I have taken curves going fast. IT IS a larger car, but that doest bother me one bit. The gas mileage has been very good considering its a v6 304 hp car! Blows the 8 away in that way for sure! As far as reliability goes thats one of the biggest complaints of the rx8!! That WAS my biggest problem too! Twice the rx8 stranded me in the middle of the road for no reason at all! Obviously everyone has their own opinion on cars, but to ME this camaro is an AWESOME car!

I never had any trouble with my 04 rx8. It's been very reliable. How is the ride on the Camaro? Would it be comfy on long trips like my 8. what's the avg. mpg? Did you get a deal? How much $?

Hell... look what you bought and drive.

Wasn't that a subie or volkswagon?

I do admit they could do better on the Camaro look. Just wait a few years.
