One of the first RX-8 drivers I waved at was driving a dusty one -- black.

I have a black, too, and if you saw me last week, you might think I switched to yellow.

Stupid pollen.

Washed it today, and it had pollen on it before I put it in the garage. And it rains tomorrow ...

i wash mine frequently. ive had it about a month and have already washed it about a dozen times. in fact i had so much wax on it the first week that a bird crapped on it and the poo just beaded off onto the ground. its black though, so as soon as i wash it and gust of wind comes along and blows a thin layer of dust/dirt all over it

We had two really nice weekends in a row recently which would have been perfect for washing my car. Unfortunately, I had to work both weekends. So I did a quick wash after work this past Wednesday. It rained over the weekend. My car looks just like it did last Tuesday before I washed it.

Plus birds love to **** on my car just after I wash it. I swear they wait for me to finish before they dive bomb me. And it's not just one bird, it's a whole damn fleet of them carpet bombing my car.

******* avian bastards!!! :o

I let mine get dirty (not to be mistaken with Christina Agulera's DIRTAY).

I let it go for about two weeks or so, it's yellow so the dirt doesn't show up as easily as a darker colour. I used to have a green miata and the slightest dirt showed up instantanuously.

I think it's the black cars that birds love.

I think you're right. Maybe they think it's water or something.

Be glad your not in TX otherwise you would have definitely seen mine. It's coated with shop dust, then road trip dirt, then dirt from a sand/dirt/rock parking lot, all smeared all over when I tried to clean it, more road trip dir, then light rain speckled dirt. I'm washing it tonight. :D

I have to retract my thread. The day I started this thread I saw my first dirty RX8. It was a black one like mine but without the options that I have. It looked like it hadn't been washed in two weeks and the wheels were filthy. He did roll down his window and gave me an acknowledging nod and drove behind me and at the side of me to check out my car. It was a young kid so I gave him a thumbs up and then I drove off into the sunset.

Mine gets dirty pretty frequently! When I wash it this damn stray cat that lives around my apartment complex climbs on my hood with muddy paws (I haven't notice it's paw prints on any other cars so I'm even more annoyed). Add on that I have to drive through what I can only describe as farm land to get to work (right now they are doing something to the fields and it is kicking up big clouds of dirt). Last but not least throw in the bugs that cover the front end and the windshield! Basically it is becoming nearly impossible for me to have my car clean for more than 2 or 3 days!

Sheesh, I hate 5 minute rain. I washed my car and two days later there was 5 minute rain and voila, the car became dirty as heck. Luckily I took it for an oil change and they washed my car again for me.

Personally, I wash my car whenever the dirt is very noticeable (since it's brilliant black it'sa little too often) or when you get the "after 5 minute rain + dust/dirt + winds" look. Ie splotchy with dirt.

I love a freshly washed 8, which starts reflecting the car in front of you's tailights. THAT means its squeaky clean!
