I have never seen a dirty RX8 on the street.

I've been an RX8 owner for 8 months now. Driving around Los Angeles I have never once seen a dirty RX8. Even though I don't see many of them, everytime I see one the cars are always in very clean condition. I think that goes to show that the Rx8 owners take real pride in their vehicle.

i wash mine every sunday (well, i have so far anyways), but if you see it on a friday, it would look "dirty".

stupid pollen.

Raevik 04-25-2005 12:52 PM

You've clearly never passed me on the road. I, for one, can single handedly smash your sweeping generalization:)

I love my car, but it gets dirty so fast it's nauseating. In the winter after the snows, there was road cake and salt and all kinds of garbage. The wash water was black when I was done cleaning it...

rx8wannahave 04-25-2005 12:54 PM

...because you have not seen mine, nor will you (ha ha...if you are not in Central FL).

Put it this way, I have a cement/sand/etc factory next to my job and accross the street. THEN, no it's not over, they are building or expanding the road in front of my job so they are kicking up all sorts of dust...etc, my baby is dirty almost all the time!!!

It's so sad when I see everyone with a nice and clean 8 while mine can't stay clean once the weekend is over.

I need a new job! :(

Gambit 04-25-2005 12:59 PM

I washed mine friday.

It rained saturday adn part of sunday.

It is now monday and my car is once again covered with pollen. It looks like it was never washed.

Stupid pollen.

RotaryRider36 04-25-2005 01:07 PM

lets see....the car is two weeks old, been washed twice already, and looks like she needs another bath. The break dust on these cars is ridiculous. But I do agree with you, RX8 owners do tend to have a lot of pride in their cars which is why im happy to be part of this community

alnielsen 04-25-2005 01:24 PM

Birds seem to like to take a dump on mine. I have to wash it twice a week.

Microdot 04-25-2005 01:30 PM

Iv'e owned mine for a little over a year now.

I was washing it once a week (or more) when I first got it. ...But now, it has to show a little dirt before I wash it (Typically every 2-3 weeks). Fortunately, the titanium gray can get a bit dirtier than some of the darker colors before it actually Looks dirty. Unfortunately, we are moving into pollen season  :( So I'll be washing it more often over the next couple of months.

Driving around Los Angeles I have never once seen a dirty RX8.

Could it be that everyone owns a "California Duster"? Love that thing, helps keep my car nice and clean. :)

rotten42 04-25-2005 01:44 PM

Mine is always clean. In winter and spring when it gets dirty fast, I wash it al leat twice a week.

mikeb 04-25-2005 01:51 PM

mine is always clean

no matter what
I cant stand it dirty

GRT8 04-25-2005 01:51 PM

I wash mine on average once a week and "California dust" and wipe off wheels after every drive.

Aseras 04-25-2005 02:10 PM

i can't keep my yellow clean.. this is why i have always owned silver cars, you never have to wash them.. they always look clean. With my yellow i am constantly hosing it down and wiping around the back and sides.. with a good wash every few days.

Rupes 04-25-2005 02:36 PM

Thats becuase in California, you arent getting the filth you get from winter driving, salt, and mud and rain that you see in other places. Plus, it's never "too cold" to wash your car if you want to

______ 04-25-2005 02:43 PM

I just washed and waxed yesterday, within the first 30 seconds of leaving my parking lot, bugs started smashing into the windshield and front end. HOORAY FOR FLORIDA

chrism 04-25-2005 02:50 PM

havent seen mine either...rain + pollen = filth!

brandon7382 04-25-2005 03:05 PM

HAHA, mine is kinda dirty :p i always wait until i need service from dealership and let them wash it for me. No time, always working

Photic 04-25-2005 03:12 PM

Wash mine every week

Emsdad 04-25-2005 07:54 PM

I spent an hour on the rims today...tomorrow maybe I'll get to using that new orbital buffer I got for Christmas!

Texas 8 04-25-2005 09:53 PM

I passed a ti the other day that was FILTHY. In the owners defense, the individual driving was our Mazda tech @ the local dealer probably out with a customers car "road testing" it. Rims were so dirty they looked black. But yeah, I agree. For the most part all the 8's I see are relatively clean and perty...

Im_DANomite 04-25-2005 09:58 PM

i clean mine 2 times a week. wax it once a week. but that still doesn't help. i have so many rock chips. i wish i had a daily driver.

cooldriver88 04-25-2005 10:01 PM

You will NEVER see mine dirty. I clean my car at least 3 times a week, more if it’s dusty. Also I keep a towel and cleaning stuff in the trunk of my car, so I can clean it if it gets some drops on it from like a sprinkler, or light rain. I take so much pride in having my car, and having it clean. People all ways ask me how do I keep it so clean, and I just say I wash it at least 3 times a week, oh and I always cover my car.

Mazdax605 04-25-2005 10:18 PM

You should see my Nordic green after 2200 miles of driving to,around, and from the Rotary Revolution this weekend. All I can say is it doesn't resemble green anymore.I could not believe the snow, and rain we experienced coming through Ohio, and PA on the trip home yesterday, and today.I have never been happier to get home to sunny warm NEW ENGLAND than I was when we pulled into MA this afternoon.I guess now it is time for a bath tomorrow afternoon.I averaged 22.8 MPG on the trip by the way in case anyone cares.I kept the tach just below 3750 most of the trip which meant 73-74 MPH(which is really 2-3 mph faster than you are really travelling in my car),and used nothing but 93 Octane the whole trip.I had a few blasts above 80,and 90 but tried travelling at below the magic 3750 number.I will try to get some pics of before and after the trip.I wanted to wash the car before the event on friday night, but I figured it is raining nad snowing why bother, plus everyone was more interested in the 3rd gen RX-7's, the 3 rotor FC,and the Mazda Kudzu 4 rotor car.

rodmeister 04-25-2005 10:42 PM

Obviously you haven't seen my dirty blue RX-8 on the Westside commuting from Venice to LAX everyday. But if it makes you feel any better I'm ashamed :D.

Every time I wash it, it rains the next day. Next time we have a drought in SoCal, I'm planning an experiment - everybody I know will wash their cars and see if the drought breaks the next day.
