Just to add my .02- I think it's worth noting that most RX-8's you see are silver. My dealer had 3 times as many silvers as they did whites. That could explain why you see more silvers in accidents. That and the people who tend to buy silver aren't as good of drivers as people who buy other colors

I heard the curse was actually on Acuras, they can be killed by a silver 8 when it bullets by and stops their heart! Silver bullets also kill werewolves, vampires, and BMWs.

Yeah, that's what everyone says. That's exactly what the curse wants you to think.

ok heres whats up mazda put in a stealth affect on the t.g. to see if it would past the street test!! well it works to good sometimes because i have had too many i didn't see you there encounters i have lost count of.people who ride with me swear there is something weird about my car that makes it invisible at times i need to speed up not to get hit or move to the next lane(if availible)not to get hit.i thank god many of times for keeping me out of harms way with the fools who can't or won't see me!my only bad thing that happened was when i got rear ended waiting on a red light(four car pile up i was the last to get hit)thank god it was only the bumper and foam support .most everywhere i go you get the stare or pictures like your famous or have a one of a kind car!!!i love it because it always stands out in a crowd for most of the people that see it when it's parked!!

Similar story yesterday happened--except no camera.

My wife and I had some lunch and after satisfying the hunger we went for a little dessert. I parked the car and a guy and his friend was outside the patio of Coldstone checking out the car, while my wife got out and went inside, I followed behind and I was stopped by the guys and started complementing and asking questions.

Guy: "That's a nice color."

Me: "Thanks guy."

Guy: "What kinda car is that?"

Me: "It's a Mazda. An RX8."

Guy: "So, does it have a V6 or V8?"

Me: "It's a rotary."

Guy:"No, I mean what kind of engine--is it a V6 or a V8?"

Me: "It'a a rotary-- no pistons or cylinders." (I was trying not to laugh, at the same time I was trying to make triangle diagrams with my fingers, trying to explain)

Guy:"Ohhh..." (this guy had the most perplexed look on his face)

Then we got into pricing and all sort's of stuff--he started asking how much they were going for, etc.

The I get inside and the wife asked what I was doing-- I told her what happened and she had this smirk on her face.

I few minutes went by and and I started placing my order, the wife quickly taps my shoulder and says, "babe, look at the guy." I turn around and his head was literaly inside the car cheking out the interior. I told my wife that I was going to set off the alarm-- while his head was in there and see what happens--ha ha ha.

Just feels good that people admire this car --got all warm and fuzzy.

this is the largest poll result I was able to find (500+ votes):

1. Red - 147
2. Metallic Grey - 93
3. Metallic Blue - 65
4. White - 59
5. Metallic Silver - 53
6. Black - 40
7. Yellow - 28
8. Green - 19
9. Unknown - 2

Of course stastitically this means nothing. Far as I know Ti is the most popular RX-8 color.

The poll was conducted before your colour was available

Cleoent, you might look into using your touch up paint with Langka Paint Chip Repair Kit.

While I have never personllay used it, I have seen nothing but good reviews about it on the Net (take that with a grain of salt though, it is the Net after all). Anyone here ever use this stuff and would like to comment on it? I recently got my first rock chip, and it's a doozy of one. I'll probably spend the $40 to try it out.

Now THAT is a fine color. That would be my preference, but for $8k off the sticker, I'm quite happy with silver.

Yeah, I'm going to have to say that is the single most true statement ever written in the history of mankind.

touch up paint never looks right, i guess it all depends how you're going to apply it. Great story though, I get people taking pictures while i'm driving, one time a girl in the passenger side was video recording my car for three blocks. Pretty flattering stuff.

I teach 8th grade Language Arts here in California. The science teacher on my team bought a new Civic Si in Jalapeno Red. Two weeks later I bought my Victory Blue RX8. You should have seen that guy squirm. Next thing I know, my students are coming in and saying, "Hey Mr. D, Mr. K is saying your car sucks and that he can beat you in a race." A couple hours later he comes into my class with his digital camera and a picture he's taken of both of our cars. He tosses it though my LCD projector and asks the kids, "Which is the better car? And remember, your grade depends on it!" They all voted for the RX8! LOL Guess I have to pass everyone in English.
Even better, I came out that Friday to the parking lot and there were three of my boys standing around my car. I asked 'em what was up and they said that some other kids were getting too close to the paint, so they chased them off. Hilarious! I don't need an alarm, just a handful of 8th grade ner'do-wells.

The RX-8 is definately a head-turner...I had a couple pleasant moments:

- A Mercedes SLK AMG driver stopped in a parking lot, rolled his window down to tell me MY car was sharp, and how much he liked it...that's as big a compliment one can get.

- While in Miami for the Orange Bowl (GO PSU!), we were looking for all the aston martins, lambo's, ferrari's, etc, when my buddy points out a car driving the opposite direction and goes, "WOOO! What's THAT?!" On further inspection, I smugly reply, "That's an Rx-8, man."

when i first got my 8 (winning blue) i was in a parking lot testing her out. Some older guy comes walking up, telling me how beautiful the car is... he knew all about the specs, etc. He had a german accent, which surprised me, i would have thought he was into bmw's or something. Any how, i felt special. And i knew getting my 8 was the right choice!

Some people are so self enclosed that they can only envy, and find that exposure to beauty only seems to make what they own, and who they are, more ugly. They are gratified only by their ability to make beauty cease, and they are the reason that galleries must place classical paintings in glass cases and mothers must protect pretty children. It is why some one would key a classic car.

Damn, fairly deep comment for a car forum.
Not sure the 8 is all that, but mostly true.

I am a new owner. From what I have seen on this site today, there is a lot of "pride of ownership" with this car. I thought I was just being vain ... lol.

I have had several compliments on the car since i purchased 3 weeks ago.
The car has been locked in an airport parking lot for 2 of the 3 weeks too (baby has only seen a week of sunshine). I have been out of town on business.

By the way, for those of you keeping score at home ... "Black is beautiful".
Most cars look better in black. It's most likely because the different segments or sections (door edges, hood edges) blend better.
But there is something about the curves of this car in black ... Brilliant!

My wife and I were leaving Best Buy the other day. As we were walking to the car we noticed 2 teenage boys walking around my car and checking it out with big smiles on their faces. They walked on as we approached. My wife looked at me and gave me a huge I love it type smile. I smilled back and we got in the car and drove off. The damn car just makes you feel good!
