Until the wheels fall off. Then about 200 yards further, clawing at the dash and screaming like a cheerleader.

Next week on the 24th I'll have had my car for 5 years. I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday that I picked it up. I've thought about what I might replace it with and when. Five years from now my son will be 16. No, I don't plan on giving him my '8 as his first car. However, my commuter car will become his first car and at that point I may get rid of the '8 and buy something new. I don't know what it will be. If I had to chose right now it would likely be an Elise, but I'm sure something really cool will be out by then.

I feel I've done my justice to serve, protect and uphold the image of the 8,nationally as well as locally but feel its time to retire ole betsy to a fresh new automobile owner. I must say, I enjoyed driving my car honestly, but I am looking ahead to also enjoy a much gas friendly ride.

Probably 6 years or when i hit 100K and the car not worth much. Although, if i keep modding it with little touches, I think it will be hard to let go.

First car i think i see keeping for a long time. I def don't think i would keep the car past 10 years.....tho...as much as I love the car.....

I'll more than likely have it a long time. And as soon as another Rotary car comes out I'll get one of those too.

As long as I have the ability to downshift and there are twisty roads, she'll stay road ready.

Until it no longer functions...and even then i will try to restore whatever i can to keep it alive...I've gone through a (S13) 240sx, and NA Rx-7 (1990), and this car by far...has given me that real sense of ownership unlike the past cars i've owned...i will get another car to go along with this one, either a Miata (NB Mazdaspeed or NC) or a Boxter...I'm leaning towards the Miata though.

I promised to have and to drive my RX8 for as long as we both shall live. Unlike a wife though, whatever brakes can be fixed and driven hard all over again

Most days I think forever, she currently gets driven only on weekends. I communte to work on a bike. I do somedays dream of a Lotus Elise but I still think the most gorgeous automobile money can buy is in my garage.

Kept the RX-8 for 4 years. It was actually the longest I ever owned a car. That's saying something (good) about the RX-8. Previous cars were all 24 or 36 months.
Changed it for 350z convertible. We'll see how this goes........

Minimum of 5 more years, after finishing medical school + residency. Then I'll be making some good $ and it'll be time for a new RX-7 / RX-9 / whatever 16x-based rotary they're doing at that point.

It definitely needs a lot of attention, but it's been a damn good car and will be my daily driver for 8+ years.

I agree with the history. I was talking to my female friend's dad and told him to tell his daughter about a manual transmission. We start talking about my car I told him a 6 speed hes like must be quick. I said it is espically considering a rotary. He was laying down watching tv the minute I said rotary he sits up and goes THEY STILL MAKE ROTARIES! Later did I learn he went to automotive school for a few years. It is history. I love when people go "your cars got one of dem rotary engines?"

i like your tastes. i'll keep my car until it dies, after that a bmw m coupe or a cayman will definitely be on the list of replacements.

I have owned my car 1,5 year now and its still feels like a keeper.

Selling it in the comming years will be a economic disaster, fuelprices here in Europe is sky high so fuel gusslers are really hard to sell if you dont give it away for almost free.

I do not like to give away stuff so I rater keep it for summer driving instead and see all Prius owners looking on my car with envy =)

Well, I only put about 8,000 miles a year on my car. So, I hope to keep it 10-15 years; or until my wife and I have a baby

Omg No Wayy......

get rid of this..?

Only in my worst nightmare.. Considering that I now have 125K miles on my car, I can certainly say that is a keeper. Like someone said earlier it'll most likely be pass down to my kids.
