Horrible noise between 3000 and 4000 RPMs

The past few weeks there has been this horrible noise coming from under my hood that only appears between 3000 and 4000 RPMs. Below 3000 and after 4000 the noise is completely gone. There are no performance issues, no check engine light, nor anything that would seem out of normal when driving the car, except for the noise.

The noise is a very annoying noise that sounds like dragging a table across the ground. I know that's a horrible description, but, anyone have any clue on what would cause this?

not sure .. but to be safe I think a little oil change / seafoam engine action couldn't hurt.

The bearings inside the alternator went bad. Bought a new alternator from partsgroup.com for $112 shipped. Can't beat that!
