Holes left behind by the OEM Spoiler

Just some ballpark figures, but how much do you guys think it would cost to fill in the holes on my trunk? (assuming I took off my wing)

just trade with someone who wants a wing... swap trunks. Otherwise i would guess about 200 because you would have to fill and patch and probably respray. Thats a fairly decent price. Could get a little more expensive

if you like the mazdaspeed or the racing beat wing, they both use the stock holes.

I know it sounds wild, but could I drive around with the holes for a bit? Or has the OEM Spoiler messed up the paint on the trunk too besides the holes?

i had the same idea. i'm more worried about water getting into the truck -- may need to put tape on the inside or something. some people have commented on the spoiler leaving some marks; depends on how tight it was on there i think. worth taking a look, maybe you could buff them out if there weren't that bad. no one would really see the holes anyway, at least not while you're driving...

go to like kragen and see if they have some rubber stoppers. also the stock spoiler leaves marks behind that you will have to buff out.

aren't the holes on the outer side of the water seal?

or are y'all speaking from first hand knowledge?

cause i was pretty sure that is the case.

^^ don't know, you may be right.

i took of the "mazda" emblem on the trunk and have yet to get the holes filled, and rain doesn't get in that way.

you wont get any rain in because the holes are between the weatherstripping and the outside quarter panel. I would run like that for too long though. They make some rubber plugs that go in the holes that would cover it from rain and be some kind of cheap solution if you didnt care about seeing pieces of rubber all the time

Did it today.

So basically the holes left by the bolts will not let rain in. However on my year(2005) there was some corrosion left behind by the wing which means I definately have to get a repaint.

But on a side note, do not take this off unless you plan on covering it up. There are 3 holes per side, the 2 from the bolts will not let water in however the plastic pieces which hold it on as well WILL let water pool inside the trunk.

I just covered it up with some helicopter tape and it should work until I can get it all painted up.
