Yeah, its been talked about at nauseam. But here are two more comparable cars if you don't care for the extra two seats of the 8.

Can't go wrong with either, having driven a 350 "sport" package I came away more impressed than I would have expected. Handled really well, I'd say less roll than the 8, and firmer, but just not as nimble feeling as the 8. But the interior was like sitting in a plastic bathtub, with the window sills up around your ears.

the Z looks like a *****?? perhaps, but to be honest i think the 8 looks more like one. its got the big flared front guards like a big bell end and a nice round front. you know what i'm talking about? the Z can be made to look quite nice and perform well, but as i've never driven one, and don't have any desire to so it will remain a barge to me. the rx8 rocks!!

The Z looks phallic to you but the RX-8 doesn't??? The RX-8 is probably the most phallic looking car I've seen.

He also mentioned going to the "Advanced Search" page and changing the "Sort Results By" to "Relevancy" and saving those search preferences. That'll fix you right up in the search department.

I've changed my mind. The BMW Z4 is the most phallic car I've ever seen. But the Z is up there.

I just can resist these comparisons.

First off I like both cars but the Z was just to impractical for me. The Z is a second car that you use when you don't need a truck or 4 seats.

Z advantages over RX:
- Power and Torque
- Nissan's Support of the car.
- Gas mileage

Z disadvantages:
- Heavy for a 2 seat sports car
- Very rough ride - car will wear you out
- Heavy driving car - you have to manhandle it to drive fast
- Tire wear in older cars, has been corrected
- Only two seats
- Truck is a joke
- Interior looks cheap
- Weak Paint

Z and RX about equal:
- Handling
- Breaking
- Looks (very subjective)

RX advantages over a Z:
- Very nimble car
- Good ride quality
- 300lbs lighter then the Z
- Autocross
- 4 seats
- Good truck for a sports car
- Interior looks and quality
- Very livable car
- Gear box - shifting
- More unique

RX Disadvantages
- Poor gas mileage
- Very poor support by Mazda
- Weak paint
- burns oil normally - A much smaller issue then people make it out to be.
- Can flood - small problem with new models

Out of 3 comparisons I have read between these two cars in major trade publications all 3 chose the RX-8 as the better car.

rx8 04 vs 350z 04
shifting wise- i have to go with rx8, it feels so smooth compared to 350z

Up and go- 350z hands down. but i felt i wasnt going fast and the engine seemed very loud. Which got annoying after a while even if im not trying to push the engine.

Driving Feel- Rx8 the car responds so well , now i know 350z responds well also. but i felt that 350z feels heavy, that it felt like it was driving me .

Eyecandy - both are the same. i like how both cars look.

Fun factor - both are a tie. You maybe a person who loves power (Z) or you mabye the person who is into more agile (8).

Gas milage- z

and since i work for statefarm- 8 rate > 350z

but yep that is my comparison. also another alternative is a s2k which drives like a rx8 to me but just smaller and i love driving the wifes 02 s2k.

Good catch on the insurance, I forgot that one. I understand the Z is higher. Not sure how much higher but higher.
