Hey JurrasicIce:

First of all, congratulations on the 8. I know you were thinking of black but you got the cool blue ... with black leather interior? You'd probably like that more than the sand leather I have with BB (personal opinion).

Keep the front plate. We need it in Ontario and it's not worth antagonizing the police here in the Nations capitol. Consider personalized plates maybe although they cost over $300 initially.

Like you, I was considering the Mazdaspeed body kit. But due to the cost and the fact that we get lots of snow in Ottawa (and London, where i live), I decided to stick with the appearance package which isn't quite as low. I got all the exterior parts (front air dam, side flares, deflectors) from the dealer and had it installed there. Cost a bloody arm and a leg but looks damn good. Course I'm still thinking about the MS kit. I wouldn't go to Bank Street Mazda for installation, though.

A couple inexpensive things you can do for your 8 is window tint (stay legal to avoid issues) and clear corners. You can also get lowering springs and have them installed at any muffler shop, like Muffler Man. I don't know if Mazda would install them but they'd be done right if they did it.

Hey man, I'm in town for a couple more days and then i'm headed back down the 401 to London. So far Ottawa weather hasn't been too tough on my 8, hope you're finding the same.

Good luck and hope to maybe see you next summer when i come back this way and maybe you'll have more stuff done to your car.

To me the perfect stance for a dark colored RX8 is to not have any tupperware. Lower it. Tint it. And leave all that plastic off. I know that most would disagree but I like the low, clean, smooth look. Especially on dark cars. Looks great if you have wider wheels that are exactly flush with the body. Like it was meant to be that way.

But hey, its your car. Look and research, then go with what you like.

To each his own

edit: Went and found a "kitted" RX8 that I do like. Apperance package with wheels and lip spoiler I think. Look at DonJuanMair's blue RX8 in the Tein S Tech's.....post in the multimedia/photo section. Really like the lip spoiler that he has.

Haha, tupperware! A lot of people love that clean, smooth look, for sure. That's why I don't like strakes (or the price of em). But I'm loving the MS spoiler, really catches the snow in there, too.

What was the final price from the bank street mazda dealership for installing the appearance package? Because I would love to get it.

I am not quite sure, they are MS rims, they came with the Performance package. Not quite sure if that is available in the States, though I wouldnt see why not.

autos have slightly better gas mileage afaik. i would assume that the 6 speed autos get even better gas mileage than the 4spds, which do better than the mt.

also, if you like the appearance package, and want a step up for roughly the same cost. get this. its what i'd get if i ever have the money to blow on it.

As for lowering springs.... Racing Beat is perfect for the street and light track use.

Replace the rear shocks when you do this as they are weak from the factory.

You can pick up some Tocico D spec from RB at the same time.
