holy crap.. sorry to see what they did to your car..

yeah man that radiator is now in a very vulnerable state. Order a new underpanel and fight to have them reimburse you.. But regardless of who pays, your car needs it ASAP before anything happens.. Don't let a minor thing become a major headache..

My opinion is there's no need to travel four hours. I would NOT let them touch my vehicle again since they deliberately damaged the car against your wishes.

I WOULD get an estimate for repair to restore original condition, and get them to pay for it.

Man, get that thing back on your car ASAP or make a new one for it.
There are pics in another thread (sorry I forget where) that someone had neon lights put in and the shop they brought it to made a new panel that was made of clear plexiglass.

personally I say ditch the lights and get back to stock, but if you really still want the lights, I say search for that thread. It has pictures of it as well. Might be in the Multimedia/Photo section.

I apologize ahead of time for the long post but read it, it's important. Thanks,

Over spring break I had Neon under-body lights installed on my 8. When they lifted the car up the mechanic said that he would have to remove the front splash gaurd so the light would shine down, I told him to leave the splash guard and mount the tube any way at least it would shine through the grill. When I came back three hours later the splash guard was gone. I told the manager I wanted it put back on and he brought it around to the garage and the mechanic said it couldn't go back on because he had to cut it out because of the ribits. Then he continued to argue with me when I said I told him not to cut it out, obviously no tip for this guy. They convinced me that it was fine with out it. I'm worried about water getting to the engine and other componets, that's why it was there. The way it appears to have been designed the front plastic part on the bottom of the front bumper and the splash guard kind of caught wind and funneled air to the radiator which is at a angle to the splash guard. Yesterday after driving for four hours straight when I finally parked, my blower, to cool the engine, ran for about 15-20 minutes. I'm worried that the radiator is not getting enough air now that there is a big whole in the plastic underlining in front of it, and the air is just dropping out of the whole. I still have the splash gaurd and can bolt it back in but they said it would just flap in the wind, and hopefully my veilside body-kit will be here later this week and I will put it on. What do you guys think I should do, and could leaving it off cause any problems or am I just paranoid. Thanks.

What a cheap way to ruin an 8

That piece does two things, first it directs air through the radiator to improve the efficiency of the radiator (cooling is very important with a rotary engine…) and secondly it helps keep the airflow under the car clean... It also protects the radiator from certain types of road debris...

Many shops and so called professionals out there should not be in business and I would never hand them the keys to any car of mine for any reason... Get the car fixed ASAP, and use this experience in a positive manner...

Hey if you don't get it fix soon your radiator will be destroyed. Fix it first. I doubt the shop will pay you back for the damage but you can try and ask.

Good luck my friend!
