I changed out the battery on the keypad and it still doesn't work....Mazda did reflash my onboard computer recetently, could this affect it? However, before they did, it was slowly not working.

the reflash has nothing to do with that i beleive. Umm, it might be the actual control on your key. has it been dropped a lot? it might be the actual button or even the receive on the 8. I would say go to your dealership and get stuff checked out.

Maybe it would start not working on occasion or take a few extra tries before it worked and now it stopped all together.

Same thing has happened to me. How much is the battery for it and where can I get it?

Sometimes mine works great and then other times not at all.

The remote may have lost its program or the remote is just plain worn out. How many miles on your car? Could still be under warranty.

Just got to the 13k marker today. Someone said something about dropping it a lot, and that may be it. I was screwin' around with it the other day tossing it and whatnot probably 5 times from 7 feet off the ground. It wasn't working before that though so I don't think that's it. Kind of ironic that someone mentioned it though. But, I feel like I'm in the 80's when I can't open my trunk or unlock my car and I have to use the key to get in. I was thinking maybe I could go to Batteries Plus and they would have it.
