Help!! Engine Dies While Driving :(
Ok so here is the problem; I went and got my oil changed three days ago and since that my 2004 8 has been acting weird.
1st encounter merging onto the interstate: in second about 50 mph and accelerating to merge when all the sudden there is a limiter at 6500 rpm and the engine light flashes so i let of and try again its still there. So it eventually normals out and is fine.
2nd driving on the road steady at 48mph; im driving and there is no power and it feels like it is shutting off,,, no cel it clears out and does it again ,,,, no cel clears out and everything is fine again
Last encounter today merging onto the interstate the rpms match at 4700 rpm and woooh wooh wooh its stopped steady at 4700 and wont go past
The car has been warm in all these situations but not heat soaked at all
Any ideas??? Thanks

He's as bad as Can
Could be a few things, taking it to a dealer would only work if you can recreate the issue at will or have a solid CEL. About the only thing I can think of you might check at home is if you might have a loose spark plug wire.

blinking CEL could be signs of misfire. Double check that the wires are in properly (both on the plug and the ignition coil).
Easiest method is lift the front of the driver's side, insert jack stand, remove wheel, and bingo your'e staring right at the plugs.
If you've got time, you could check to make sure the plugs are in properly.
how many miles on your 8?

okay ill give that a try, i have 37000 miles on it and the only thing different than stock is the mazdaspeed cai.
Would it be time to replace the spark plugs? I'm not sure what kind of plugs there are stock but shouldn't the lifespan of a spark plug be more like 60 to 80k?
