JP Headers or no?

Need to know whether to purchase the set of headers to my 04 rx8. I will be purchasing both the complete exhaust system from turbo XS and may throw in the new headers from them as well since am getting a good deal on them brand new.

It's not a set. There's only one. Header. Lol. If you're getting a good deal and want to make your 8 louder. Sure. Go for it. *shrugs*

I think 9k actually had the same problem when he installed the header on someones car.

BHR is releasing a new header design that will be superior to the one already mentioned in this thread...

The actual exhaust, YES. The midpipe might not work since it's a long tube design. There was talk of the header coming with a midpipe. Hopefully, Charles can chime in here and answer this question in more depth.

We had the same issue and the guy from Turbo XS said he has never heard of anyone having fitment issues.

Yeah it was a pain in *** and not really worth it in the end. His car is stupid loud and the power increase was negligibly.

You will need a tuning device to notice any power increase because you will be to lean. I had to increase some fuel cells by a large percent.

seriously though, headers will NOT give you too much gain on the power side. it will give u a different sound though. butt dyno will tell you your car has a 50+ hp increase.

Only real good header came from Knight Sports, but even with that (They separated it all ports, not merger like most designs) still only get ya another 3-5 ps over the rest of the market AND it cost you an arm and leg.

say, a RB header + mid/test pipe + race exhaust give u no more than 15 hp on a good day (really good one), so u might wanna think if the cost is worth it. if u just wanna a different sound, an exhaust (cat back) is usually enough.

for best NA power, u need to clean up the cast marks(or do a very mild SP) on the engine + tuning, it helps more than getting a good header+pipe+cat back. it will cost u even more, but better in the long run.

save your money get a ZEX kit.

if you just want sound effects get the turboXS set-up

if you do want a header waiting for the BHR is a good idea.
