have some problems with the clutch!need help!!

last night my son took my car and he came back by the tower truck...
I went to the dealer store and they told me that the clutch burned...they ask me to get new clutch from them for like 1000$ or something.but I have checked on ebay that EXEDY clutch are like 300$ ish so I think I better get a clutch kit myself on ebay. but just have 2 questions!

1. The clutch is not under warranty? Mazda say that I am the one who uses the clutch kit. and this part is not covered.

2.which EXEDY clutch kit I should get? EXEDY OEM or the stage 1 kit?what is the difference between them?and if I should replace other parts other than the clutch kit??

I don't THINK a clutch is covered. I'm sure someone will chime in. But that's subjected to wear and tear. It would be like them covering the tires.

Don't listen to this guy... he doesn't even have an RX8.

How many miles are on the car? Major determining factor on warranty replacement of clutches.

I THINK the clutch is only covered for like 12,000 miles or something...personally I would go with a stage one clutch over oem anyday..a little stiffer yet still able to b driven everyday!!!

P.S. sounds like ur son needs lessons on drivin a stick hahah....j/k

If you have the money, go ahead and get a lightweight flywheel. If you're at all interested in aftermarket parts, that would be useful to go ahead and get now if you dont mind spending the money on it.

Clutch isn't covered. Just went through this. Blew my clutch.

Got it towed to the dealer. $1400 bucks for Stock Clutch and flywheel.
I would of got an after market one, like an act prolite kit, but the towing to a place that would put it in was ridculous. So I'm going to wait till I turbo my car for the new clutch.

I hate the Mazda Dealership by me, when I got the car back the exhaust wasn't even tightened. I'm driving and its way louder and normal so I brought it back and the yahoo behind the counter gave me a dirty look and said I doubt it but we will look at it.

So I went into the garage with the guy that did my clutch, he threw it up on the lift and hes like "oh I musta forgot to tighten that" I wanted to say oh yeah what else didn't you tighten?
