I just ordered the Tanabe hyper medallion. I was wondering if anyone could compare it to the Greddy sp2 for me. Also, I was wondering if anyone has put a throttle body spacer in their 8 and whether or not they work.

 

Well since you just ordered the Tanabe isn't it a bit late to still be comparing? If you do a search for Tanabe hyper medallion you will basically find it’s not as loud as the SP2 and the tips are not as big. Since aftermarket exhaust are a looks & sound mod one doesn’t offer much performance gains over another. In regards to throttle spacers they do not work on the RX-8 a search for that term will return many threads on the subject.

 

I ordered the tanabe, but it is on backorder for 4-8 weeks. So I can still cancel it and switch for the greddy. I have actually heard the greddy, and it was a little loud for me. I dont want it much louder than stock, so im ok with it being quieter than the greddy. And it has 4" tips, which i think is a good size. I was mainly concerned if one has better performance than the other. As for the throttle body spacers, I figured i would get the response you gave me.

Do not get the throttle body spacer you see for sale on Ebay. They don't work on this car. Just save that money and do all the free mods!
