Great oil bottles for the back seat storage compartment

Asked some friends of mine to save some empty oil bottles from their oil changes, because I suspected they'd be perfect for carrying top-off oil in the RX-8. Turns out I was right!

Here's one of the bottles:

1 liter each (slightly bigger than a quart), and you can fit up to four at a time in the center storage compartment between the rear seatbacks:

It's a tight fit, but it works. Weird that the dimensions are such a perfect match.

Also, its mouth is wide (easy to fill) and offset (easy to pour from).

Full story:

I would NOT recommend running this oil in a Renesis engine. However, I have some friends with BMW M cars that use this oil, so I asked them to save some empty bottles for me. Those cars have big sumps, so the next time one of them changed his oil I ended up with 7 bottles. I filled them all to the 750 mL mark with my oil of choice, carry 2 at a time in my car, and keep the rest as backups.

This oil used to be the spec oil for all non-turbo BMW M engines. It's still the spec oil for the Audi R8 GT, and I think some pro race teams use it as well. It was formerly known as Castrol TWS. It's been through several iterations, but always had the same bottle AFAIK. So, possible sources would include:

- Friends who have any of the above cars and change their own oil
- Dealerships or other facilities that service those cars
- Race cars

Guess you could also buy the oil, dump it in someone else's engine, and keep the bottles. Seems expensive, but I won't tell you what to do with your money.

If anyone knows of another bottle that can do the same trick, please post up!

I use that little compartment for oil too (and a funnel)!! It's funny how the bottles fit perfectly.

One question I have is.. Why don't you just use your own (full) bottles? Don't really see why you needed your friends'

I buy my oil in jugs, so I'd need another bottle anyway. All other bottles I've seen are shorter and have larger footprints.

I keep bottles less than full so they're easier to pour.
