Plug and play, basically. I think the # is 194. There are a few threads about the number codes for all the 8s lighting fixtures inside & out.
Local laws all vary, some (like CA) are insanely strict, but others only specify amber for directional indicators. You are probably right, tho - doubt you'd get a ticket - for the first offense anyway.
There are stealth bulbs available if it becomes a problem.

Interior Lights Thread
There's a real good DIY to show you how to do the map lights! You should look it up. Pretty much anything you can think of, someone has already done and there is a thread or DIY about it.
Here is my list right now! And you can see that I'm only running the Stealth bulbs in the turn signals at the moment.

Right on. Thanks guys. And for finding that cupholder light post. That's the exact one that I was thinking of. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to do it :P
