Calling all Interior LED and Exterior LED replacements

Ok Here is a noob question, but I wanted to make sure I was doing things right before I go ***** nilly on replacing lights. I have read through the forums and found some good information on lights, DIY"s, and other's success. I guess I couldn't find how to really replace the interior lights doors, map, and center dome. I am also looking at replacing the license plate light. So my question is can someone give me a quick run down on taking of covers and getting to the lights? sorry for the noob question, but any help is appreciated.

the ones in the doors, dome light and license plate light require just a small flat head screwdriver to pop the covers off. be careful not to scratch the plastic though. i'm not sure how to change the map lights but you can also look up a DIY on hard-wiring a radar detector to help you with that.

I actually got my original side markers through RX8strakes they look really good and give a solid look in the front. I will double check to see and maybe get some side stuff... thanx for the reply

Alright ladies and gentlemen.... I was wondering if anyone has replaced their turn signals with LED's? if so did you have to put load balancers on each side? I know currently they are outputed for the stock bulbs, but switching to LED's people have said they have to place load balancers to make sure they run in sequence together.....

to change the map lights or whatever their called you have to open the glasses holder and there are 2 screws you unscrew and then the whole thing just pops off and you can change the lights like that it took me a while to figure that out and i scratched the plastic trying to use a screwdriver

There's a real good DIY to show you how to do the map lights! You should look it up. Pretty much anything you can think of, someone has already done and there is a thread or DIY about it.

Here is my list right now! And you can see that I'm only running the Stealth bulbs in the turn signals at the moment.

Parking lights.......white 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Clear Corners.......white 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Door Courtesy lights.........blue 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Map Lights..........blue 5 refractor LEDs.......Don't think they sell these anymore???? This is what they looked like, but not in purple/UV/black light.
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Rear Dome..........blue festoon/LED http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Glove..............blue 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Footwells, have two blue LED circuit boards each side(driver and passenger), these are a little more subtle that what you've probably seen.
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Under the front seats(near the rear), I have RR's blue circuit boards tied into the Courtesy and Footwells above.
https://www.rx8club.com/group-buy-center-85/custom-led-footwell-lights-118507/

Turn signals.........Stealth bulbs for now. http://www.stealthauto.com/Departmen...lth-Bulbs.aspx

Inside Trunk.....blue 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

License plate......white 6 LEDs http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 or http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 right now I have the 2nd one in there, the HID.

Brake lights........18 LED 7440/7443 red http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

Back up lights.........18 LED 7440/7443 white http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...d/0/SFV/32481#

Fog lights...........Hoen H11's. This isn't where I bought them, but see............ http://www.hoen-usa.com/fog.htm

Puddle lights courtesy of Shazbot. https://www.rx8club.com/group-buy-center-85/custom-led-puddle-lights-118822/ BUT.....I did change out the LEDs to match those in the door courtesy light position.....see above.

RX8Strakes Stealth brake light, but I believe they stopped making them. http://www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp?...PROD&ProdID=31

Next up, I'm after all the dash and radio leds to blue, but that's gonna be a bitch! Unless I get Lurch to do it!

I think that's it unless I forgot something?

Yes, I am sick!

for each of the turn signals you have to install load resistors. There is a whole package on RX8strakes that includes the proper equipment for doing this.
bumbaclot, i did the exact same thing changing the map lights
scratched up the plastic.

Once you know where the little clips(I'll call them) are, then it's no big deal, but if you just pry away, you will jack it up most likely. I'll see if I can find that helpful DIY with pictures.

Here's one that I found and there are others.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ght=map+lights

And take my suggestion about wrapping the screwdriver with tape and or some sort of cloth, it will help protect your headliner and plastic......perhaps!

What about the door lights that shine (red) on the window controls? Can't find a DIY for that, much less what type of bulb they are--how do you change these out?

to get to the door lights (the ones that shine red on your window and lock switches) you need to remove the whole door panel. there is a DIY for the door panel removal on the DIY section.

those are LED's. i think you actually have to snip them off and solder a new LED on there.

Thanks for the info, hopefully I can change them out without hurting my baby. Are they white lights through a red lens or red lights through a clear lens?

I haven't actually gone after these and forgot to look when I had the door panel off installing the puddle lights, but I believe you will find that they are infact SMT(Surface Mount Technology) LED's and they are infact red. So this means the proper way to do it would be to unsolder them, buy the replacement color you want, and solder back in. If you really want..............I can probably go find out what part number(or actual type) they actually use in that position.
