I recieved an email from my dealer today. He stated that the first allocation has been delayed due to modifications that were needed to clear up some issues on the Japanese run. Also he stated that the second allocation is still slated for July.

 

So the first allocation is the only group that is getting screwed over?

 

From what I gather the first allocation shouldn't be delayed very long since the second allocation is still on track for July. Initially I was told late June/early July for the second allocation. Maybe the first allocation will arrive early July and the second allocation late July. It's just a guesstimate, which is pretty worthless, LOL.

I visited my dealer the day before yesterday. Unfortunately he is still insisting my 1st allocation car will be in the 1st week of June. Sigh... While that would be really nice, I just don't know if that is very realistic (considering what we've been reading here). On the positive side, though, my "new" salesman (they made some changes while I was away) is thinking about getting one himself, so at least he does have some self-interest to motivate his fact-finding efforts.

 

I visited a new dealership yesterday and had the chance to order my car for late July delivery! I don't believe I fall into the pre-order category, so no watch or other gift, but you never know. I planted the seed in terms of throwing that out there so we shall see. Oddly enough, I'm the only person that has inquired about the RX-8 and the ONLY person putting down a deposit. What's up with that?!? (yes, it's a small dealership, so that sort of explains some of it - their allocation was 1 -- lucky me!)

I gave up the closer dealer after no return telephone calls and the fact! So I have order in hand and will be waiting with the rest of you patiently! Let's all hope they deliver as promised!
