Is this a good deal for a 2004.

This rx-8 has 35k miles on it and they are asking $17,995. That seems a bit high. Take a look and tell me what you think.

auto or manual? It has the GT package, looks to be the chrome wheels, an aftermarket fromt lip or whole body kit? it's been tinted, so there is at least 1500 in extras on top of it. Mileage is a little high but doesnt seem too far out of the price range.
That looks like a really super price, but the ad is very vague, so it looks suspicious. I know the RX8 depreciation has been much greater then originally anticipated, but even if that is an auto GT, for a dealer to sell it at that price, even with 35k miles, is a pretty damn good deal, assuming there's no cosmetic damage, ect ect. There's no way a $31-$32k msrp car has lost that much value already, even at that mileage, so either there's some flaws with the car, or it's the best deal you will ever see on a car like this from a dealership. Coulld also be that the dealership is just looking to break even, and put it up for close to what they paid for trade in. Who knows. I'd check it out.

Looks like stock rims to me. The sides are factory kit (part of GT pkg) and it looks like a lousy job of color matching on the front lip - which could just be light/angle of picture, but I doubt it.
Either way, it does seem like a pretty good price. When I was shopping for mine the few I found that were a "great deal" were rebuilt totaled vehicles that had been bought from the insurance companies. "Too good to be true" usually equals exactly that, IMO.
Any 05's still on lots? If so, go into a couple of dealerships and lowball the hell out of them on leftover 05's. (Unless you are set on GT options)
Happy hunting!!

Out of curiosity and boredom, I checked out the used value. That's about $500 below private party sale if it's an automatic, and about $1100 below assuming it's in clean condition. Then add the body stuff as bonus. For a dealership, that is quite a good deal. I believe this is a repercussion of all those insane 04 05 deals, as they want to sell car fast and get it out of way. Great buyers market for the RX8, new or used, and it's been that way since the middle of 2004.

Make sure it hasn't been modded excessively. I learned the hard way from my old M3 that sometimes mods take a heavy toll on the car (increased rattles, worn suspension pieces, bent rims, damage to enigne/tranny, etc... yes, that fricking M3 had it all, but I got a smokin deal on it).
