Gold Plated Battery Terminal Connectors

So today at advanced auto parts I purchased 2 terminals to replace the incredibly corroded (and now maluable) ones I had currently. I saw that there were ones labeled as gold plated, and that they were supposed to increase conductivity over normal ones.

I do not know in depth element properties as far as electric conductivity but it was 10.00 so I figured what the heck I'd give em a shot, only the best for my 8.

Anyways, I had to do some modifications so the ends of the terminal would fit properly on the positive wiring side but it seemed to work great. I charged my battery up and mixed with these new terminals I got a great start this morning out of my car.

Just wanted to know if maybe others had seen this and agree or consider it an inconclusive argument that they could possibly benefit the ignition system. But, on the bright side at least, they look pretty cool haha

Cheers.

That gold plating wont last very long, it probably already started to come off at least a bit when you attached it to the battery. Yes gold is a good conductor they use it in electronics a lot but I'm not sure how much help if any plating the battery cable ends would be. I'm sure they will work just as good as OEM but I doubt they will work better.

Gold is a great conducter,.it can retain power over a really long.range without degrade, only problem is cost and the ultra softness of the material

To be honest, you cant expect it to give u more than 0.
01 oz of gold on a 5 dollar part. its more of a marketing gimmick than anything.

But a new terminal is always better than your old, worn out one. That should be the reason why u are getting better startup

The coating is for corrosion resistance, if anything. There's not enough gold to make any direct difference in resistance.
