great forum

Hey guys i got a 03(uk) rx8 with 72k couple days ago which is replacing my 3 series. site has already helped me with explaining the coolant bottle issue and saved me some money as the dealer told me the boot didnt open to see on here i just needed to open the glove box and press the switch , my old car had automatic lights so like a complete idiot i left them on already and drained the battery, forum came in handy again explaining the procedure to take the traction light off the dash after power lose.

ive read most the stickies and have learnt so much especially with how to turn on and off this car,

its very fun to drive and keeping the revs up reminds me of my gsxr. i am 90% sure i have a gt as i have leather seats, bose 6 cd changer and a sat nav although i have no sunroof.

only issues i have now are the fact my car is a slow starter (about 3 seconds) and im confused about if there should be a strap at the bottoms of my drivers seat like my passenger seat to fold it (no luck mention in manual or by searching.

anyway id just like to say thanks for the information this site has already given me

To fold it? You mean to make it lean forward right? Should just be a little lever on the side of the seat.

Also, in the US '04 & '05 have weaker starters... N3H1 18 400 if i remember correctly.

Im going to take her out for a drive again today so before i do ill have a look and see if that starter is whats in mine. Ive seen the tough love on forums before so its cool, i joined a sv650 forum where everyone loved each other then when i got my gsxr and joined that forum i see alot of guys getting flamed, the nickname for noobs there was squids. Never joined a bmw forum as had no passion for the car but with this car i just want to know everything i can about it.

Welcome to the club! The have a GTs driver side seats are electric and the passenger is adjusted only with a lever. I think that's the reason why the driver does not have the strap for quickly folding the seat forward.

I am surprised that the RECARO(Speedster CS) R3 seats for the RX8 only has a ****. May be it's due to the thin shell design, unlike my SR-III which has a side lever you can pull up(located where the side air bags would be) to fold the seat forward and back to it's previous setting.

Havnt tried looking at starter motor yet as its pissing down outside but i have taken her for a spin and had her washed (mainly to get carbon taken off exhaust tips)

ok i thought there would be a quick way of putting the seat forward but tbh i wont need to as it is a four door, just found it difficult putting girlfriends toddler in his car seat and clipping him in with the front seat still there but next time his coming along ill just put him on the passenger side and there will be no issue

I get the pics joke but im showing her off anyway

Here's mine with my daughter's (who's comfortably numb) toddler seat. I removed the back cushon which gives space for my wifes' leg-room (5'8").

Welcome.

Some thoughts for a new 04 owner... Check the $100 thread in my signature. I am pretty sure that most of it will apply to a euro model. It is a lot of little things that made mine a lot easier to live with..

Do me a favor if you get a chance.. Please take a picture of that rear spoiler. I have been looking for one like the euro one. Ideally a picture from the side...

Thanks,

Mike
