I bought a Silver 2005 MT RX-8, off Leasebusters, private sale. Has only 10,200 km's on it and wty till 100,000 km.

I'm dying to get my new (to me) car...traded in my 2002 Sentra SPEC V and am driving a little Yaris for the weekend.

Couple of questions for you guys and gals. I love the sound of a Cold Air Intake and that it's not always loud and annoying, only when you really push the engine. I've read elsewhere a drop in K&N filter is great and cheaper and a free flow exhaust is way to go. Which one though?

Also, get the windows tinted?

Ha, I also had a 2002 Spec V before getting the RX8. Starting in 2nd gear from a stop wont work anymore.

Definitely get the windows tinted.

I have the k%n setup and she purrrs like a kitten..sound like a jet taken off in my neighborhood...love it!! Defiantly tint the windows. I went a percentage darker in the rear and the 2 small side windows than I did on the pass and driver window. Also did the windshield....looks sick, but watch out for the "popo". I have had to take it off the windshield twice but somehow it keeps getting back on there.

Personally I think the Racing Beat cold air intake is the best intake out there. It's designed very well and sounds great. They also offer a cold air duct you can buy to go with it. If you just want to make your intake louder you can remove your VFAD duct. It's only there for noise control.

Mine took like a week to get. But it was a loooooooooong week. On top of that I had to go to a work retreat a few days after I got her and couldn't take the 8 since I took 3 of my coworkers with me and there was no room for our bags and the cases of beer.

 

Above the tach are two small buttons. The one on the right resets the trip odometer. Push the one on the left.

Your instruments now read in miles, not kilometers. The total number of "mileage units" is now lower so you can take comfort in that reading.

Don't get any speeding tickets as a result!

Congrats on your new 8. You'll find that this website is like a "bible" for the RX-8. I would suggest reading the sticky threads for advice because a lot of questions that you may have have probably been discussed at length. You're gonna love your car and this forum.
