Getting brakes checked need advised

I'm getting my brakes checked next week they are starting to screech and the brake pedal pushes back on me. So I'm pretty sure Ima need new pads and rotors, let's hope that's all or nothing worse, but I was thinking if that was the case to get upgraded rotors an pads. Since I don't know **** of cars or parts and what's good quality I want to know if anyone can tell me what I can get for upgrades? I'm not looking for track brakes or performances but a simple upgrade if there is such thing.
Also if anyone can tell the price or the parts and getting them put on. Thank you again

I went through R1 Concepts and got their basic slotted rotors and a full set of Hawk HPS's for under 500 shipped. I did have to call and talk to them but was quite pleased with how they worked with me. They came recommend from my dad who has used them for his Jeeps, RX-7's and his old Vette. The rotors are over a year old and have some 50k on them and show little wear and still look good, minimal corrosion which says a lot for being on a car in NH that is driven all year. I am a very spirited driver and was able to destroy the OEM pads that had 15k on them when I bought the car in a little more then 10k miles. The HPS's hold up quiet well, and I do know there are plenty of other offerings but for a DD they have been excellent. What is nice is that I can go for a spirited drive in the white mountains and the hold up the whole time without becoming soft or slick.

how many miles do you have on them? if you don't have to change the rotors, i wouldn't. get some hawk ceramic pads and call it a day (that's if you actually even need new pads). more info on mileage and braking habits would help.

If it's squeally, it may well need new pads. As long as braking doesn't cause vibrations (that slow down as the car slows) then your rotors are probably OK.

It's hard to tell from here, but you might be describing warped rotors - or the ABS kicking in. If you're taking the car to get the brakes worked on, ask the technician to test drive it. They should be able to figure out pretty quickly what's wrong. Don't be surprised if they say you need new pads. If they say the rotors are warped, ask if they can machine them - if not, you'll need to get new rotors too. Any other problems... I'm not sure. I'd get a second opinion before paying for anything else.

About red brakes. Yeah, some calipers are painted red. I don't know the exact brands. Anyway, you (hopefully) don't need new calipers and good ones are going to be $$$$.

Good luck and here's hoping it's just worn pads.
