Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC - Yes - but mine is off with no trouble so far (knock on wood). I've been warned to stay out of DC without a front plate.
DC parking enforcement gave me a $50 ticket for front tag "not visible" (It was under the passenger side floor mat). And there was still time left on the meter. Now would I have gotten a ticket if it was on the dash? Don't know.

Oh, and it doesn't matter what state you are registered in. DC will ticket anyone they can get away with but particularly love to give tickets to VA and MD residents. Interesting reading if you check the DC website for speed camera stats. DC residents are only 20% of the tickets.
Radar cameras
Check the historical data for 40, 45 and 50 Speed Limits which list top speeds in excess of 150 MPH!! Must have been a malfunction, right?

Anybody thought of using one of these? Just mount it in the opening and hit your switch when required to have your plate down (getting pulled over). Kinda pricey, but pretty cool.

Don't hold your breath on that one. Just look at the number of people who drive without the required front plate.

MN - Yes. In the past I've gotten away without it for long periods of time, but I ainna gonna push my luck this time around. Besides, I'm old and responsible. (ahem) Yes, that's right, responsible. Or at least old.

I compromised with a tinted bubble shield, but I've been told they don't like that either. That's too damn bad, sez I.
