Question Fog Lights to HID?

It's finally time to start modding the 8 and one thing that I really wanted to do is convert my fog lights into HID lights. First of all does anyone know if they make HID kits for the fog lights, who sells them, how much they cost, and has anyone even done it? If anyone could give me some feedback I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Rotary Rasp has a couple of threads documenting his upgrade:

I wouldn't thinking that fogs are meant to be HID. Naturally, HID has a cutoff line and if you plan to utilize them, I'd think they would need to be halogens. Either that or you'd have to aim HID upward, which would **** me off if I were an oncoming driver. Either that or you would have to be one of those people that don't understand HID, and use it uninhibited without a cut off.

I've heard of many people putting stronger halogens in the fogs, but HID doesn't seem like a wise idea in terms of my understanding.

Quite right. If you read Rotary Rasps threads that I linked to, first he just added one of those HID rebased H11 bulb kits and they were too bright, had no cut off, and blinded oncoming traffic. In the second thread he changes out the stock fogs for HID ready projector foglights. So I agree, if you want to upgrade to HID fogs, you need to do more than just pop in rebased HID bulbs, you'll need to do some kind of retrofit. I believe PIAA makes a non-projector HID foglight that is pretty close in size to our stock fog lights, that may be a possible source for a retrofit also.

EDIT: remember, an HID bulb is longer and the filliment is placed perpendicular to that of a halogen bulb, so the optics of the reflector that it is placed in has to account for that. Anyway, here's a link to the PIAA kit I was talking about:
