Hey! You got auto climate? How about the little lights under the side view mirrors that light up when you open the door, ya got that? My 2 pet peeves about the US types...I'll get over it, ya know but how about the canadian type there, canzoomer?
I do not know if it is "auto climate".
I DO know that if you set the temp on the temp ****, it turns on and off the air to maintain temperature. It was a little too warm for the heating to come on, as it was about 85F this afternoon when I drove it.

I am still trying to figure out how to make the headlight washer robots pop out and squirt!

It has the trim lights on the mirrors, it is what they call a "GT" package, so has everything BUT the moonroof and the NAV/GPS.

We picked ours up yesterday early afternoon; it arrived on Tuesday (7/15) but our saleswoman was going to be out Wednesday so we had to wait until Thursday (7/17). Here it is,
isn't that blue terrific?

Several unallocated cars were being delivered to the same
dealer as we arrived. We got the first car from Oak Tree Mazda, San Jose, CA. We might be the first delivery for Northern California.

Canzoomer's car AC is not auto-climate. Notice, however, on the picture the little trapazoids on the front bumper. Headlamp washers! They pop out and spray the headlamps. Very ricy.

How's about an RX8 going up hill? My co-worker took this awsome picture.

how are headlight washers ricey? BMWs have those, as do a lot of luxury brands. I wouldn't call a BMW, Audi, or Benz ricey.

winning blue color

is it just me or is the winning blue a lot "lighter" than expected? maybe i'm comparing it to the 350Z or maybe the pictures don't do it justice.

also, i saw the red 8 up close and it has the mica sparkles in the paint. does the winning blue metallic have this also?

It is such a rich color. The more I see it, the more I like it.

The pictures don't even come close!! I REALLY disliked winning blue. Even the supposedly good pictures didn't really endear it to me. Then I saw ChuckClifford and RX-8-U-Up's winning blue RX-8 at work today. Wow!! Absolutely blew me away. Stunning.

glad to hear that. i've just about made up my mind to get the winning blue.

btw, did anyone notice any "glitter" in the blue or is that just the red?

The Winning Blue Metallic has a lot of silver metal flakes in it. I tried to explain this in another thread, but let me give it another try. When I woke up yesterday morning and immediately went to the garage to make sure the 8 was still there, the sun was shining in through the garage window and hitting on the driver's side door of the 8. The entire garage was glowing with this prism style design on all of the white walls. I had never seen anything like this before, so I went and got my husband and he was as amazed as I was. It was as if someone had placed a glitter ball in the garage, one like they use at dance clubs.

By the way, when direct sun highlights spots on this car, they have glowed white, purple and rainbow colors. I walk around the car just looking at how the color of the car changes depending on where I stand.

Maybe this happens with other metallic paints, but I haven't seen it before.

I have heard the velocity red has gold flaking in its paint. I wonder if it will have the same effect.

Here are two closeups of the Winning Blue Metallic. Hopefully, these pictures will show the silver "glitter".

It's worth buying just for the disco-ball effect. I can have a party in my garage every night. I'm sooooo getting the blue now!

Thanks for posting those pics. It has the metallic flake effect. I guess the "glitter" in the red really stands out up close because the flakes are gold.

Red does have the gold flecks in it but I didn't have the privilege of the glittery garage scene like you described. Makes you wanna get up in the morning just to see it. The first time I showed off my car at work it was in strong sunlight and the gold really showed. Now it's dirty (we had some drizzle yesterday) so I'm gonna go buy all the "right" car wash stuff and bring out that sparkle.

for those of you wanting to see what a gold flake metallic looks like, check out a Spicy Orange 2003 MazdaSPEED Protege. They're tough to find now, but it has gold flakes too and it's really cool looking under sunlight.

Don't forget folks:

Metallic = Silver flakes
Mica = Gold flakes

Red paint gold flakes; also VIN question

I saw a red RX-8 in bright sunlight.
The gold flakes give the paint the illusion of real depth, at least for an observer close to the car.
From more than a few feet, it just looks like an intense red.
The paint type also makes minor scratches much more visible up close, and I would imagine that touch-up paint would make the scratch even more visible unless it is properly applied and treated.

Unfortunately, this RX-8 was someone else's car; my preorder from several months ago is still in the pipeline.
Can anyone post a method of checking the status of a VIN online?
Mine has been in the dealer inventory database for two weeks.
Mazda and the dealer have not officially acknowledged the VIN, but I now know that it is the VIN of my car.

It has silver flakes and is notoriously hard to photograph but here's one.

Does anyone have the green yet? I've seen every color last thursday at a local dealer (Oak Tree Mazda), but the green.
Please post an up-close picture or provide some description.
The green could be the sleeper color, although all the other colors look good on it.

I thought the yellow looked a bit "washed out" in person. It definitely was not as deep as the Mazda 6's yellow.

The black is stunning. Haven't seen the red, blue, gray or green yet. Silver was, well, silver.

Folks, this is going to be a high-production car. My dealer had an "adjusted market value" of $3,000 extra tacked onto one car for a total sticker of nearly $37,000. I laughed in the guy's face. I said, "I won't pay more than $31,000 for a GT 6MT." He said, no problem, we can get you one for that. LOL. Just give it a bit.

I didn't say it was a deal. My point is that I won't pay thousands over MSRP. There's a difference between paying sticker and being gouged. Nice sarcasm, though. (Pokes eyes out)

the glendale dealer i went to had a red, a silver, and a yellow, all GT fully loaded, all marked up 2000 to 35k. but honestly, that ain't the worst. when the new M3 came out, it was marked up like 8k. and even now i've seen evo's marked up 5k (i would never pay 35k for that car). definitely not condoning that, car dealers can just be bandits. but in a way it's kinda nice seeing how hot the 8 is
