Are the Renesis rotary engines completely hand-assembled for each production X8 in Japan?

TO EASTMOON: I speak for everyone here by saying that we are grateful, and appreciate the people at Mazda Production who made this dream possible. The X8 is a unique, fun, exciting, and impressive piece of automobile technology.
Is the renesis rotary engine hand-made for each production vehicle?
The assembly of each parts is performed by a craftsman's hand, because each parts are designed in 1/1000 or less accuracy.
In a recipro-engine, "Type-R" of Honda is hand-made.
Although a rotary engine is engine of very simple structure compared with a recipro-engine, it is very delicate engine.
I think......Rotary engines "apex seal" It like a "samurai sword "

Everyone thank you for your follows !

In reference to the apex seal problems from years (thankfully) gone by, I can imagine how Mazda didn't throw up their hands, shout at each other and give up. I can see them sayinng, this problem is not insurmountable, it just commands considerably more respect . I hear ya...

I agree '8' is an acceptable abreviation, however 'X-8' is not. We'll have to call the Rotor Police on you if you continue to violate this.

Where: Annapolis When: Tomorrow.

hate to admit it but my Annapolis Dealer just took delivery of the car (the only one delivered to the dealership, although that told me they pre-ordered 6), the rep gave the dealer the delivery pitch, and I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. the worst thing is i didn't put down a deposit until May.

"It's not about torque, it's about being torqued"!

www.fitzmallauto.com is the dealership.

Not to rain on anyone's pre-order parade, but I stopped by Galpin Mazda in the LA area and they had several RX-8's on the lot. They let me drive a red one with sport package. So Sweet !(I'll save this for another post)

So here's the news: Galpin has about 15-20 RX-8's available in port with no names attached. All you need is a $1000 deposit and the car will be yours in 3-5 days. Of all their cars on their inventory list, maybe 5 out of 25 had a buyer. These are all 1st allocation cars.

Sucks for all the pre-orders

Okay, I'm a lurker too, and I just got a call from my dealer. First car here in Chicago arrived last night. Mine (2nd one on the list) should be arriving within a week. It wasn't fully prepped, but they let me try it on, seating-wise, and it might be a bit tight for the 10-month old that I have to cram in the car seat in the back. Sooo, I'm considering offers from anyone on this list, who might want to jump ahead of the waiting line. No markup over sticker. Anyone interested?

Cleveland checks in!

The long-awaited baby is here! Mazda of Bedford says it is their only delivery so far and probably the first in the Cleveland area. It doesn't really matter anymore. The car arrived at 10:00 this morning and I took delivery at 5:00 pm. First a few pics, then some time with the manual. Road tests will be tomorrow - and tomorrow night - and the next day - etc. Only 2 miles on it when I roadtested to approve the deal. So far the experience has been great. Interior is well done and comfortable. I really like the black/chapparel combination with the Titanium Gray.

This forum has been great to follow and very informative. I think I was able to show the dealer a few things that I picked up from those of you with earlier deliveries.

I'll post some driving notes tomorrow.
