Wow what a gift. Unlike a lot of people here I think if the family can afford it, the 8 is a great first car. Its safe, and can be grown into.

Leave the DSC/TC alone until you have time to play with the car in a big empty parking lot.

DSC should be on by default every time you start the car. It helps prevent the car from slipping out of control on wet surfaces and such. Lotta sports car drivers like to turn it off because they are good drivers and like to control the stability of the car themselves. (So unless u manually turn it off, the DSC is on.)

For us "normal peeps," it's better to leave the DSC alone...
