Final Service

My car is at 49,300 miles and my free service is over at 50k. Im taking the car in on saturday to mazda for a oil change. Also im gonna have some other interior noises and things looked at. My main concern is if I dont drive the rx8 for a day or so when I go to turn it over sometimes it wont start without a jump start or it slowly turns over. Why is that? i thought my battery connections may be loose but they arent

Have an amp meter connected to see if there is a drain on the battery. If there is, start pulling fuses untill the current draw goes away.
I believe on modern cars the will always be a small draw on the battery.

Definitely ask for the starter, battery, plug update. How do your headlights look? Any film on them?

yea, request battery/starter/plugs update for the hard-to-start condition

and double check your headlights for film deposits inside the casing

always fun when you finally used up that warranty eh?

Starter TSB. They replace it with some sort of torture device.

It may just be the battery. Any battery that lasts over 2 1/2 years in my climate is basically shot. Be prepared to pay something for the new battery, though. The dealer will normally prorate the cost to you if your existing battery is over 12 months old.

which dealership did you go to?
What time did you take your car in for service? Just trying to figure out who would be SO busy on a wednesday to not perform a simple service...

Haha, reminds me of a haiku with an extra line.
Hope they get everything sorted out for you - I got the new starter/battery/plugs and my car's been running perfectly ever since. Hope yours works out as well as mine has!
