Ill try to ask politely if they can clean it for while the engine is out I cant wait

The car feels sluggis at times. No wonder its in the 5s on one rotor lol.

Mazda is recommending i put in brand new ignition. The spark plugs and wires were replaced 10, 000 km ago and the coils about 5,000 ago.

They keep saying the plugs are building alot of residue on them etc etc. Do you guys think it would be okay to just tell them to clean up the spark plugs and put back the ignition i originally had on the old motor. I mean theyre still fairly new. And i doubt if i order a new set that they would come by the time i drop off my car at the dealership. Ill be leaving the country the day i drop off the car so.

You guys see any harm in using the same ignition ? I mean the spark plugs can be cleaned and wires dont degrade. The coils are 5,000 on them.

If Mazda is covering your engine, just have them install new coils and spark plugs.

Ya the engine is covered but the coils plugs and wires arent. As far as i am aware anyway. I dont see mazda putting in new ignition for free. But the end of the day i personally think this should be covered.

As long as your coils are in great condition (as in pretty much brand new), sure. But I would definitely put new plugs and wires in.

Personally I'd replace the whole lot.

Coils are pretty much brand new. I think ill get them to change the plugs and wires. I shouldve ordered some in advance online then give them the part to install. But im going away the day i drop off the car so ill probably have to buy them from mazda

Do wires actually get wear and tear ? I dont get why people always suggest replacing wires. DOnt
they just carry the current to ignite.

That's a joke, right?

Of course you need to replace the spark plug wires.
Over time, they degrade, not only from the current they carry, but the heat they are exposed to in the engine bay.

BC.

quick question regarding fees. Some people are telling me if the test failed and you are granted a new motor that you dont have to pay for the diagnosis. And if it passes you do have to pay. Is this correct ??

So the dealer is suggesting change the clutch release bearing its an additional 70 bucks.

What do you guys think ? Worth it or not .. I gave them a brand new clutch to install while the engine is out

That bearing should have came with the new clutch, if purchased in a kit. If it was just the disk you provided then yes I would recommend replacing that bearing although 70 bucks is a rip considering the part cost like 40 bucks

Well the clutch is actually used. It's the oem exedy and all I bought was the disc no flywheel. So should I do it ?

I do hear the noise when the clutch is out .. When I press it I hear it. Ill be saving on labour I guess.

From my understanding .. Doesn't the new motor come with a new flywheel . Wouldn't it come with a new release bearing as well

Nope, mazda remain are a bare shortblock. They reuse everything off the original engine.

The remans come with a new flywheel and pilot bearing. They do NOT come with a new clutch disc, pressure plate, or release bearing.

Just got the car back and first off i wanna say HUGEEEE DIFFERENCE night and day. From the way the car starts to the exhaust note at idle. Just wow.

The tech told me to break in the motor and take it easy. Ive gone up to 5k but i wanna redline it so bad the car just wants to go. And best part is that vtech sound thing i had after 5k is now gone. The new clutch feels amazing still getting used to the engagement point. It starts up right away now. Couldnt have been happier.

Few questions:

1) Is it necessary to break in the reman ?? If so for how long ? and under what rpms

2) i was thinking of premixing on this new motor ?? Thoughts ?? Is premixing worth it ??

Waits for 9krpmrx8 to bash me LOL jkz Scott

There is no consensus on either question. Most follow the racing beat recommendations (or a variation) on the break in.

Engine is about 3/4 broken in right now. One thing i noticed is that between 4-5k rpm there is somewhat of a lag in both 2nd and 3rd gear. Literally a half a second lag and it pulls hard. As if i had a turbo spooling and boost kicks in.

Im pretty sure its gotta do with my SSV. Anyone have something similar ?? THe car starts up fine and idles fine and pulls fine excpet for that little tiny lag. Not super noticeable. Should i complain to mazda when i do my oil change or leave it ?
