Faulty alarm or did I do something wrong?

Ok, the stock alarm system flipped out on me tonight.

I was sitting in the car, door open with key in ignition (set to ON) trying to program the homelink system with my garage door. No more than 10 minutes into it, the alarm decided to go off.. horn/lights.. the works. My neighbours were not impressed.

What I couldn't figure out was how to turn the blasted thing off. I tried:

1. Turning off the car
2. Closing the door and pressing UNLOCK on my key transmitter
3. Clicking LOCK/UNLOCK numerous times
4. Opening the trunk, closing the trunk
5. Lock the door manually and unlock with key

No avail... but it did decide to quite after a good 2-3 minutes of complaining.

Did I mess up somewhere? The manual doesn't say much about the security system.... maybe it gets triggered when the door is open too long, and car is on but not started? Battery warning maybe?

Any one else experience this?

Are you sure your wife / little brother / buddy didn't pick up your spare alarm fob inside the house and decide to screw with you by hitting the panic button? :D

Hah I wish..

.. but nope... just plain ol' me screwing around it.

BTW, it all happened at 11:00pm in a nice quiet residential area.... lesson learned, not to screw around with the baby in the middle of the night.

My alarm went off the other night (not sure why - it was parked on the street but when I went out to investigate no sign of anyone or any entry attempt) - anyhow - the alarm was silenced by me pressing the unlock button on the FOB.. - so I'm not sure why you were not able to shut yours off, unless something to do with the homelink stuff was somehow interfering with it.

Simon.

My alarm decided to go off randomly the other day while parked in my garage. After I grabbed my keys I just hit the unlock button and it silenced...
