Exhuast Systems

First off there are so many posts about exhaust systems I understand this, but i what i want to ask is, there are so many different exhaust systems out there for the rx8 the ebay JDM brand thats 300$ to the Magnaflow that is 1100$ what I want to know is there really that big of a difference. Ideally I am looking for a cat delete exhaust, what are your opinions people?

packing material, weld quality, metal used, sound resonation, flow, bend quality, the list can go on as to what makes every exhaust different. The old saying goes 'you get what you pay for'

I recommend that you read all of the exhaust threads that you know are out there. All catbacks change the volume and tone, but none of them really give you a performance gain. It's all subjective because of this. The difference in prices has to do with brand, material quality, build quality, fitment, longevity, diameter, etc.

A catless or high flow catted midpipe will give you a light gain. They follow the above pricing rules as well.

There is no "Best" exhaust. For the most part, you get what you pay for.

edit: paimon beat me to it.

If you just want the cheapest and possibly best built exhaust(for the money), look at the turboxs. Lots of people have bought that and love it, some even say the quality is decent for the price. Its pretty cheap and is a header back exhaust like you want.

Personally when I finally buy an exhaust I plan on going with racing beat. Not a horribly loud cop magnet like some other exhausts.

Same here. It is a bit louder but not crazy. Get's pretty loud when you want it too though, at high RPMs.

I have the turboxs and the quality was way better than I was expecting and you couldn't beat the price.

If I was going to add one to my car, I would prefer one with a tone that was on the deeper side. Some of them sound like chainsaws, yuck.

Judging by sound clips on-line, it seems the Borla has a deeper tone compared to most. I am not a huge fan of the slash cut tips on the Borla, however. The Magnaflow looks nice, I wish I could hear one in person. Nice looking tips as well. Had one on my CTS-V and the quality was there.

Weight is an important factor to me as well. Some aftermarket exhausts can be significantly heavier than stock. I would only go with one that was equal to, or lighter than the stocker.
