And even in the past few years mitsubishi hasn't really proved to me that their cars are reliable. I had a friend whos GST eclipse left him stranded on the road all the time with the same 4g63 engine. I mean sure its fast, but i wouldn't wanna risk it buying a mitsushit
not to be a smart *** or anything like that, but the 4g63 in the 90-99 mitsubishi eclispes or nothing like the 4g63 in todays evolutions. Its stronger and 100% redesigned therfore its bullet proof and very reliable. Evos are very reliable cars as long as you keep the power to a minimum just like any car. The drivetrain isnt the greatest thing in the world but the engine is stout.

Well guys again I wanna thank you for all your input, though it turned out to mainly be a evo vs rx8 debate . I agree with most of you though, the evo is an amazing machine. Its fast and very well engineered. Ive owned a 350hp talon tsi along with the evo and Im kinda ready to just settle with something sportier and with a bit more luxuries. I went ahead and bought a 04 lighting yellow GT MT. No it doesnt have the power my modded evo did but its smooth and a lot of fun to drive. The two cars are in totally different leagues and I understand now that they cant be compared to each other. Its like apples and oranges.

I moved from a 12 sec DSM to a rx8 too. I really miss the power but the overall feel and driving experience of the 8 is much better. Just boost your rx8 a few psi and you'll have the best of both worlds again. With the strides being made in rx8 engine management these days, FI is turning into a great option to get the best of everything!

Not to mention the current time attacks going on across the U.S, it's been proven time and time again that awd is faster then rwd around the same track, and the evo's are faster than even the 2door skylines because of the weight different. Continue with the rally agruement all you want if it helps, but it is more than a rally car. Though it seems as a fanboi rant on my part (probably cuz it is ) but this country seems to stereotype immediatily the evo towards highschool kids and younger biase minds due to the "movies" and popularity among that generation without the real knowledge of how the international community praises it in every way. A 40 year old here driving an evo will get mocked while in japan or euro it's the same as a corvette to us.

congrats on the purchase. you also entered into an elite sub cult, 04 was the only year lightning yellow was available, so very few are seen on the streets.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club!

Always wished that they'd offered the yellow for more then one year. The VR I got was a close second, but I'd have LOVED to have found a NEW yellow 8 when i bought mine in 06.

As you'll find after hangin here long enough, the 8 isn't near the powerhouse that some people want (and that you may be used to), but you'll always find yourself discovering new qualities in the 8 that you hadn't caught the 1st time around!
