England's RX Experience
RX is a premium car here in UK - we're paying around £25,000 on avg for a 231ps with leather, thats about $47,000 USD. So you guys are doing so well. Getting mine in 2 weeks - black, w black-red leather. Had a test drive and it was sweet. Best car I've EVER driven, and i've tested 911s and Audis. We have the kind of Mazda dealer here who will take the demo right up to the redline and hit 130mph. Insane country, but we like our cars, and we like a good fight in Foriegn parts now and again. ;-) Rock on the UK-USA relationship.

wow....i am happy for you . i hope the dealers break in their cars (600 miles) before running them to redline and 130 mph, otherwise, they might be selling you a defective car (maybe not now, but definitely in the future). Make sure you let them know of this.

oh yeah... and as you can see from my signature, i got mine FULLY loaded with the exception of navigation and i got it for $29,500. It makes you really wonder how cheap they can get it in japan for......

yeah, the dealer wanted to sell me the demo he'd burned out the 17 inchers and redlined the engine everyday from new...just because of scarcity. It was fully loaded, and nice, but without a complete wheel refit and a new engine...NO WAY!!! Yeah, you're right to say throw this back at em, but they dont care here. RXs are just flying off the forecourts. Folks love em.

jono, I was all set to express my envy to you, tossing your 8 around those narrow, twisty lanes in the Cotswolds, or on a leisurely drive through the heather-covered hills of Hampshire, or romping through the Lake District... But then I saw "..$47k US" and my little mental symphony hit a sour note.
Well, it'll still be a ton of fun, and those of us fortunate enough to be able to enjoy them for our measly $30k will respect your enthusiasm for the 8 all the more.
Trust me on this, guys. If we were able to enjoy our 8s on the kind of roads jono has within easy reach, we'd be living in our cars.

I reasearched UK prices a year ago when I was considering an '8. At that time a GT Rx-8 was 24,000 pounds, with an exchange rate closer to 1.55 as I recall, so it was about $37k. The fact that the dollar is now at 1.9 to the pound distorts the picture here.
The '8 is very competitively priced in the UK, and significantly less that the 350z for instance. Not surprising they're flying off the lots (except that gas mileage must be a big issue there)

Hey, Jono,
Congrats! Welcome! It sure says a lot when you have to pay more and you get an 8 anyway. Happy motoring and enjoy the car for many years. Thanks for the other bit-- we love our friends across the pond.
Pr1vateer-- we have members who favor other vehicles, but they have something to contribute to the discussion. That's what defines the difference between trolls and others. Anyway, resistance is futile-- assimil8 :D

Yes, lots of namby pamby boring car haters in UK, but I live out west where we can still hunt and fish. Gatso's are ritually pulled down. RX-8s are at home here, and because a/ they're not german, and b/ people make way for you to pull out of road junctions if you're not in a german car. c/ because RXs are simply kool. The only , and I mean the ONLY case for a 350 is the rag top version. And then we're talking about a poof's car anyway. So.

Mazda is creaming the exchange rate, and they deserve to as they make damn fine cars.
eg car costs about 17000USD to make, sells on for 45000USD in uk.

And to add I think the Celtic term would be poof da. And the 350Z does have "that" kinda muscle car feel to me. The kind that you would expect the pretty boys to be driving away from a pub called Spike where the men were chaps and white t's... you get the picture I'm sure.
