Engine recall question

When they do the work up on the engine to see if it will be replaced do they check the compression and if so do they give you the results?

No compression check...they will do the Vac test if the drive tests fail. The PDF of the dealer recall procedure is up on the Rosenthal site, and has been posted here. It has a flow chart that explains the procedure

Thanks for the info. I didn't think they would, it would open up a car of worms for them that they would then have to address. I have a feeling that many of the 8s are not with in compression specs.

I actually think the compression is normal on a lot of cars with problems. The side seals don't contribute to compression as much as you would think. I think that is why they are using the Vac results. It is much more likely to show problems at idle than the compression values do.

It seems also that the engines Dyno fairly normally as well???? on at least a few of the engines that they have replaced.

You miss understand me. I agree with what you say here, but I also believe that some of the discrepancy in the HP reported among us owners as well as some of the mpg discrepancy is related to poor compression so I was wonder if we were to get that reading.

I didnt get the printout or see the reading. I have been curious what my car actually got on the compression test. I assume that is what you are referring to.

Some drivers have been able to get a paper printout or see what the score is. I guess it depends on asking when you turn in the car.

I have to go back to the dealer in a couple weeks so I'm going to ask then to see it. It should be info that can be pulled up again.

I'm not sure if I get a printout of anything other than the usual invoice. I just got called and told Bella was ready to be picked up, everything was fine and passed. No problems. Got my broken visor replaced too. Finally! It only took seven weeks.
