more than likely it's probably the sensor. It's been going around to a lot of us lately. At first i thought it was the same thing but now my sensor will go off randomly. Jedi's witnessed it in my car. It'll come on during cruising speeds then it'll shut off when i'm at the light. Fans kick on occationally but nothing out of the norm.
Just watch the needle if anything.

Paul at Rotorsport said the coolant tanks are problematic on the 8 due to the design. Could be an air bubble, bad sensor - might need entire replacing.

yes, i mean add, so there is some coolant already in it, and i just added more coolant
but before, (i drive to school 60 miles a day) and sometimes it would go off randomly, but it would turn off within five minutes on the freeway
but after i added the coolant (full) now its been on the whole time i have been driving.
but im hoping its just the sensor

Yep, had my coolant tank replaced not to long ago because the coolant light would come on randomly on the interstate

resetting the ECU won't do anything, the sensor in the overflow tank is what's triggering the light.

if your car is a 04 or a 05. and you drive for a bit at ~ 70mph for a few minutes. it will come back..
if you are under warranty get it fixed..
if not..

my car is an 05'.... and yeah i noticed that, like i usually drive around campus to warm it up and then go on the on-ramp redlining in 2nd and 3rd (sometimes... if its a clear freeway) and i usually see the light come up for like 5-10 minutes and then disappears.....
but as long as its just the sensor, then I'm not worried, as long as nothing gets damaged in the long run.

BTW, I've seen a few threads on this, but I was at the track yesterday and the coolant light would go on and off throughout the entire lapping session. I have a 2004 car. Temperature gauge was normal. Some sensor issue, your coolant is actually fine.
Strange thing though, is that this does NOT happen to me on the road. But it would regularly happen at the track. So something about constant high cornering forces or speeds or RPMs triggers the problem, probably something with the tank design as mentioned.

Dunno if anyone mentioned this...most 50/50 coolents...you're not suppose to add water to those...idk if you did or not...just throwing that out there.
BTW, the very day I bought my car...It was maybe 94 degrees outside...I ran about 80-90 mph for like 30 mins straight or longer...maybe an hour...coolent light went off...so i droped my speed to like 55-60 mph...it went off a few minutes later...
when you say you were at the track, im sure it just got too hot from so much constant high revving. Thats my idea on it. The over all water temp. might have read okay, but your coolent temp could have very well been over heating.
