i have a 2004 MT 8. ive been curious to try driving (very carefully!) with the DSC turned off. however, it doesnt seem like i have the DSC switch! ive read the manual but the 'switches' i have, with the exception of the console dimmer, are all nonfunctioning dummie buttons. ive read that base models dont have DSC at all, so that may be the case. However, ive felt what i assumed all along was the DSC kicking in during turns, etc.

i did some searching on here but didnt find an answer, so thanks if you can provide one.

I don't know if anyone else can atest to this, but in my own experience, with the exception of launching, having DSC on actually provides the car with a little more power. I had my buddy in the car with me and I punched it from about 15 mph with the DSC and TCS off (I held the button down for 5 secs), shifting into 2nd and then into 3rd I did not chirp the tires in either gear. My buddy made a smart *** comment about how my car had no power (he has an 05 Mustang V6, enough said), I then turned the car off, back on again, then performed the same test and chirped the tires in 2nd and 3rd gear. The acceleration and power was just that much better.

the way it was explained to me is that the DSC has two separate functions. The first is to stop the wheels from loosing traction,,, This is turned of with a tap on the button. The second is suposed to sense and stop the car from sliding out in the rear (drifting in the front) and goes off when the button is held in for several seconds. However, I just tap it once and can get my 8 to fish tail and even pull a reverce 180 so I'm not sure how true what I've been told is.
Hey, has any one though about moving this button to make it easier to use when playing,,, without taking a hand off the wheel or the shifter???
Grey.
