Unhappy Driver's Seat Broke at 2,200 Miles!

While in the middle of one of my autocross runs (second event I took my 4 month old 07 base model with sport package to) the adjuster for the thigh support gave way causing the seat bottom to drop down. I can pull it up, but with enough pressure it'll fall back to the lower limits of it's adjustment. Very uncomfortable! Not to mention it screwed up my remaining runs cause I was pissed!

Has anyone else had this problem? Does this problem plague many 8's or is it just bad luck? I'll have to take it to the dealer. I'm wondering if the mechanism itself is replaceable or if the driver's seat need to be replaced.

I think this is a first. Can't remember reading about a similar problem in 4 years on the forum. Wonder what the dealer will say?

Yeah, I didn't see it mentioned previously either. It comes at a bad time as I'm taking the car to Pocono for DE with the Metro NY BMW Club and Sunday to Giant Stadium for an autocross with the Northern NJ Porsche Club.

Oh well.....

First time I've seen it on here. Since your car is under warranty I am sure it will be fixed.

I think Mazda knows about your problem......does this look like it?

Dealership has a new seat on order for me right now because the seat pan started rattling, and would move a bit (with an audible click) when going around corners.

I have a strong suspicion that I probably played with my lever too much and wore it out.

Old Rotor, thank you! That looks like it! I'll print it and take it to the dealer and see what they say.

Socket 7, regarding the last sentence in your reply, that's not something I'd broadcast! :-)

Took the 8 to the Dealer

I stopped by the service department and showed the service writer the service bulletin. Sent one of the techs outside to check the seat and ordered the part. He said it would take about 10 days to receive the part and about an hour to install. Looks like I'll be paying them a visit at 7:15 in the morning one of these days off!

Thanks again for your help!
