Then I see a cop ahead and people slamming on their brakes enough to where you see their front-end dip down.
I drive by wondering how the cop didn't see that only to see the A-hole on his cellphone!!!
And this happened to me THREE TIMES this week!!!
Yeah, you're right. God forbid cops talk on cell phones. And it's not illegal for people to slam on their brakes. So what you want them to do when someone hits their brakes? Stop them on suspicion of speeding?

and most importantly, speed limits are set for safety and based on demographics. excessive speeding is extremely dangerous and youself or someone else can be seriously injured or killed because of neglectful driving.

You guys might get a kick outta this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B-Ox0ZmVIU

A bunch of students make a blockade by driving 55 on an Atlanta freeway, the speed limit. They nearly cause several wrecks and the road is almost deserted in front of them. People yell and swerve, funny stuff.

No.. how about stop them for speeding.
IF you bothered to think about what I said, I was doing 5 over the speed limit and they were flying by me... they were speeding.

Please take the time to read before posting anything.
Its sad that people come on here to start fights with each other

Well if a cop is talking on the phone do you think it's a possibility that person is on the phone for a reason? Don't you talk on the phone for a specific reason? Or is it just cops can't do something because you think it's wrong. Also if a cop is on the phone how do you expect he/she knows you are only doing 5 over? How is the cop to know other are speeding if he/she is on the phone? Don't be upset becaue others in front of you have gotten away with speeding at some time and you were caught once. And who was trying to start a fight? You posted a ridiculous statement. I responded. I'll leave it at that.

Evidence of the money machine is obvious, as route 81 S changes from VA 55mph to WVA 70 mph(nice), the same road same conditions same level of maintenance same number of lanes.

NJ is the WORST in the 4 yrs I lived there I got 4 nice fat 15mph over tickets, my own fault I know but since Ive been in PA for the last 4 yrs I havent gotten one and I drive faster here usually 80-85 on the hwy. One morning while dark I got left to pass a truck and wound her out a bit to 102mph. I noticed a car behind doing as I just did passing the trucker, after I got right and slowed to 75 I see it was a state trooper :gulp: To my surprise he just cruised by doing about 80. God Im lovin PA no front plates and no tickets yet (I just jinxed myself)

Anyways NJ felt like a police state I would see one every half hour at least you never get comfortable.

You mean you guys DON'T look for the nose of the car dipping as a speeder applies the brakes in response to seeing your patrol car hiding behind the upcoming overpass?

Man. I've been using my E-brake all this time for no reason at all.

On an empty road, where you'll only kill yourself or a deer, I'm fine with people speeding. your car, your life. It's when other people can possibly become involved where I have a problem.

If you can see any other cars around you, drive the limit. There are 2 ways you can make a road safe. All the cars travel the same speed, or they all have very good lane discipline. Asking for lane discipline from an American goes over about as well as asking an American to speak 2 languages fluently. Since we can't have nice things like lane discipline, we need speed limits.

Speed doesn't kill, Sudden changes in velocity does.

9 times out of 10 the speeding car doesnt see me until its too late. on the highway, by the time a speeding vehicle has seen me, no braking can help as i have obtained and locked their speed in the radar or laser unit. dipping noses are not always indicitive of guilt. most people, even when doing the speed limit, slow down when they see me sitting stationary or moving traffic enforcement.

We are going to that as pc now. More reliable than radar/laser

The wonderful jurisDICKtion I live in just gives out photo-radar.

They pay some cop-wanna-be to sit in a truck, with a camera unit about 100 ft away on a wire.

Then they send me pictures of my car going too fast and municipal fines in the mail.

I usually wait till I have three or four before I go downtown and pay 'em.

(Only got two this month, just got back from paying them!)

They can't assess points on my license, because they can't prove it was me.

This system seems to suit both parties - they get lots'o'cash, and I get to drive as fast as I like, even thru school zones.

I know it sounds bad, but it's their system, they're happy with it, and I'm rich enough not to care........

5 over is not really a rule anymore. On freeways it's closer to 11 or more over.

emergency personnel are allowed to do things ordinary citizens can simply because it's needed to function. if you're still going to argue, you seriously fail.. especially if you really were a former emergency personnel.

i don't care to argue either, but people who hate on ALL police officers because of the one you saw on the street making a mistake/doing something "stupid"... ridiculous

It's no use. He is too sensitive for a simple debate/disagreement. Hence above

"raises hand"

i know the feeling all to well

The video was amazing too but, same as my comment on youtube, what they did was pretty dangerous. With road rage common place i'm surprised no one got hurt or quite literally run off the road.

in maryland, my commute goes from dc to baltimore for school, 4 times a week this semester. generally traffic goes about 80. i tend to travel about 80-90, i hope im not jinxing myself by saying that. haha. but i still slow down to about 65mph when i see a cop.

i really believe we should revamp the driving schools in the usa, as well as the speed limits. we really should be taking notes from germany. i refuse to accept that we, as americans, cannot follow the same rules of the roads the germans can. we, on a whole, cant be too stupid. it doesnt look too good for us though. their entire transportation infrastructure, from bike paths to trains, is worlds more advanced than ours.

In other fun news i got pulled over 4 seperate times for 4 different things and came away with 4 tickets.

Talking on a cell phone (my MAIN MAIN boss called and i HAD to answer), No front License Plate, Failure to provide PROOF of insurance, and going 70 in a 65 ............

When i got pulled over for 70 in a 65 the cop says to me "i had another cop call me on his cell phone and said you were doing mid 90's but i only clocked you at 70, so i COULD give you a ticket based on his visual estimate but i'll give you this instead" ........ yes i got ticketed for 70 in a 65 .... pure Bullshit

Jammers are illegal here in California, most cops will wait till the absolute LAST MOMENT to blip their radar at you. It won't show up on most detectors or make the owner of the detector think it's a false alarm and continue speeding. We need every advantage we can get, just wish jammers were legal here.

We banned officers from using the cell phone in their cars.

Just goes to show you they are idiots too!

i would say moreso because there are always going to be those people complaining "oh noes, they are acting like they are above the law!"

they probably weren't banned... more likely discouraged
