Do you ever find yourself not wanting AC for power reasons?

AC Compressor makes the revs build slower, yet drop faster. So essentially, you have less power off the line and have to change gears quicker as the added drag makes you lose revs.

That part I like, since its easier to shift smoother when the revs drop fast. However, I could do without the slow revving/lack of power. It just feels like the car is hauling around a full passenger load.

it's probably the main reason why I don't use the AC in the car- same with all my cars actually- I'd rather overcome the drag of opened windows on the Highway.

though I'm not sure and I know someone smarter than I could say whether that is a smart plan or not

ough the A/C compressor on the RX-8 is supposedly a high-performance model, it still pulls about 15 HP.
Just be thankful you have electrical steering - a power steering pump can also pull up to 15 HP.
